Nothing to do with this week's challenge, but where else can you deconstruct clothing choices?

I do like being back in the US; I got three compliments on my outfit yesterday (one from a coworker, two from phlebotomist so while I was giving blood). I'm pretty sure I wore more or less the same thing while living in the Netherlands, but either they just don't do compliments there or the outfit didn't fit in well enough with Dutch style. Probably both.

I think I finally came up with a combination that didn't make my Black Watch mini kilt read "schoolgirl" which makes me happy because I do love mini kilts. This time I wore it with under layers of a gray pointelle long-sleeved knit top and gray leggings, with a denim-blue knit moto-styled jacket and black cowboy boots on top. I don't think it came off as Lolita or Goth (hope not, since I wore it to work!), but the nods in that general direction made me happy.

I've concluded that I will be one of those women wearing miniskirts to work when I'm fifty - not a hard deduction, with only three and a half years to go. This particular one was 3-4" above the knee; I wouldn't go that short without opaque tights or leggings beneath. I fondly and perhaps foolishly believe that this, plus the fact that I'm quite short so the length of leg showing isn't particularly noticeable, keeps me reasonably work-appropriate. (My main "internal customers" dress more casually than I do, too.)
