Wardrobe cull

I now have:

Summer skirts and dresses (hanging in wardrobe)
Winter skirts and dresses (hanging in wardrobe)
Winter jackets, sweaters, cardigans and shirts (in wardrobe)
Trousers (in wardrobe drawer)
Winter tops (in wardrobe drawer)
Scarves and other hand-knitted accessories (in wardrobe drawer)
Clothes which I do not wear very often but I don't want to get rid of, i.e. party/special occasion clothes (in storage bag in the bottom drawer of wardrobe that's hard to get to)
Summer tops, cardigans and jackets (underbed drawer and chest of drawers)
Underwear (chest of drawers and excess storage space)
Smart winter coat (storage bag on top of wardrobe)
Ordinary coats and raincoats (hanging by back door)

It'll never last but it's quite pleasing at the moment. I have thrown out everything that was stained, holey or too small, with the exception of a couple of bras that are in bad condition but still wearable, because I have a serious bra shortage.* I need new knickers, too, and I will need some summer pyjamas but not just yet. I also need some white t-shirts since every single one has been discarded under the stained, holey or too small rules.

I've got a bin liner of clothes to throw away and another of clothes to wash and take to the charity shop. These mostly come under the too small and/or hasn't been worn for over 12 months rules.** There are a couple of items I'd be happy to pass on to any s_y folks who would like them. I'll post pics when I find my camera.

In general, I think I do wear most things that I own and I don't own clothes that I don't like. So it's hard to do much of a cull but I did need to be able to get what I own into the space available, which is somewhat limited. I can just about do that now, which is good. In future, I think I need to be better at throwing things out when they become unwearable, rather than waiting for a cull. I do have a slightly tendency to think that things are worth saving for the fabric, which I never, ever use. Must stop doing that.

*Another one died today. I bought two new bras last week from M&S which were size 40C and just about fitted. I have purchased two bra extenders and with an extra inch or so from those, the new bras are extremely comfortable and also very pretty. So that looks like being a good short-term solution.
**Party clothes, special occasion clothes and the smart winter coat are exempt from the 12 month rule.
