nick cave's soundsuits. i saw these at the yerba buena in san francisco a few weeks ago and they completely and totally blew my mind. definitely in the top 5 exhibits i've ever seen, even though it was only two rooms.
just got back from two weeks in oakland, ca teaching girls rock camp and exploring every corner of the bay area. it was totally fun and inspiring and overwhelming and beautiful. i can't really write about it. but here are some key phrases
- teaching myself the banjo. 30th century man by scott walker! anyone have any hand strengthening tips?
- cheap, huge, amazing avocados
- massive concrete slides in noe valley
- covered in tree sap in the redwood forest
- new friends with chicken coops in urban areas
- getting used to public transport again
- campfires in june because it's 60 degrees
- friends playing in a punk show run on a generator at the subway stop until the cops descend, but they came at the very end so it didn't matter
- authentic, incredible, cheap mexican food
- met a mischievous freckled face dark haired soul singing lady dreamboat
- taxidermy mice in outfits - wedding cake topper
- vegan reuben sandwich punctuated with rose petal ice cream
- femi kuti at the fillmore. who knew my brother could dance like that
- cartwheels and snapea crisps in dolores park
- fully realizing my personal mobility
