I haven't mentioned this because... I have no idea.
A couple weeks ago, I filled out a FAFSA so I can go back to college. I'm still waiting for my final results, but I got the email today stating that I can get a Pell Grant of up to $2,300. I won't find out the total for sure until the college gets back to me with whatever they need to finalize it. The FAFSA is supposed to apply you for everything that you could be eligible for, so there may be something else I can get for college costs, but even if I only get a Pell Grant, that should be enough. I am gonna fight to get the full amount too, since I'll have travel costs to deal with, and rent. Hopefully they'll count them as "college expenses" along with the actual courses and books.
I plan on going part time, maybe 2 days a week. I've already told my boss, and told her that it will probably be spring so there is PLENTY of time to get everything sorted and it's not being sprung on her when I'll need my schedule worked around school.
I am applying for an Associates of Applied Science degree in computer hardware. I doubt the classes I took ten years ago will count toward it. If they do, great. If they don't then, fingers crossed, the Pell Grant will be sufficient to cover course costs plus books, and maybe even have some cash left over at the end. We'll see.
