Support me in the RONA MS Bike Tour

Aug 30, 2005 00:48

For those not already aware, I'm riding in the MS Bike Tour on September 11th - a 50km bike ride through Toronto to benefit those with Multiple Sclerosis.

Over 50,000 Canadians have MS and three more people are diagnosed every day. Multiple sclerosis is a devastating disease that can affect one's vision, balance and cognitive abilities. This disease often strikes people between the ages of 15-40 and women twice as often as men.

My original reason for doing the ride was simple - I was working on a weight loss/get healthy/get fit program, and I wanted some type of a goal to work towards (other than just feeling good about myself). I chose the MS Bike tour because it is one my father has done many times before and I am familiar with it (he is doing the ride with me this year, a father/daughter bonding thing). However, a few weeks ago I learned that a friend's mom has MS, and has recently taken a turn for the worse, now needing almost constant care.

So now I'm asking for your help. You can help by making a pledge. It doesn't have to be a lot - $2, $20, or $200 (if you're feeling particularily generous) or any other amount you'd like to contribute. To pledge with a Visa, Mastercard or Amex, click the link at the bottom of this email (in case the link doesn't work, you can always go to www.msbiketours.com -> "Pledge a cyclist" -> search "Tiana Stewart" to find my pledge page). If you'd like to pledge by cash/cheque, email me at stwt0032@hotmail.com and we can arrange a time to meet up.

A special Thank You goes out to those who have already pledged, and to all those planning to pledge, I thank you from the bottom of my heart - you guys rock!

With your support, we can move one step closer to finding a cure.

Tiana
