Movie reviews...

Haven't done this in a bit, and am utterly bored, so what the hell, lol.

Okay, so I've been wanting to see what the fuss is with this movie. And since I've started liking Japanese horror films on top of that, and that Takashi Miike directed it, well, it only interested me more.

I didn't get to see any of the extras on the DVD, since I only rented it. Though I did watch one thing. They included the clip from the Bravo special, where the movie ranked #11. Was cool watching it again.

Since I haven't seen the other version, I can't compare the two. How much was added back in and whatnot.

But I liked the movie. It's mostly a drama through most of it. They want you to sympathize with the guy. His wife dies. Years later, his son is older, wondering why he doesn't remarry. He's kinda lost at how to do this, so a friend/colleague/whatever, has the idea to hold an audition. He's a producer, so they have this idea, make up this weird movie script to have women audition for. And the guy picks the "winner" from the audition they hold. The movie idea gets canned. Guy finds Ms. Right. Or so he thinks. Things seem to be going well.

But then you start to see how psychotic she is. He tells her he'll call her, and she waits obediently by the phone, on the floor, not moving an inch. It gets worse as her past starts being revealed. Everyone she's come in contact with has disappeared. Eventually you learn she's been torturing men who she feels have somehow done her wrong. In one way or another.

And I was expecting it to get really gory there. When the torture session began. But actually, I was too amused by it. Okay, minus the scene where she feeds the guy her own vomit, to which he hungrily drinks cause she's been starving him. But the rest... I found too amusing. I almost laughed at how giddy she was while she was torturing the guy. Especially when she was cutting off his foot with that wire or whatever it was. Loved it, LOL. Yes, I'm twisted. :-)

I think, it's more of a horror movie for guys. Wondering if any woman they date might end up being like her, LOL. But I liked it. Must buy it.

Now this one I just bought automatically. Wasn't expecting anything new and original. Very rare to have that happen in a sequel. Particularly one where the first one already did seem original. And I like Ringu better anyway. I'm more excited about the Ringu box set than I was about this movie, LOL. But, I like these movies, so I bought.

Twas interesting. Not really scary. Least not to me. But I liked it enough to not regretting buying it. Don't wanna give anything away on this one. No real big surprise in this one, least not that I recall, but it's better to just watch. Heeeeeee!

Next conquest: the Ringu Anthology. Must must must have.
