Hide and Seek DVD

So I finally got to see this movie, and I regret not just up and buying it cause I really liked it. But tis now on my list of Must Have DVDs, heeeeeee!

Maybe I'm in the minority here, I dunno, but I hafta admit, I really love Dakota Fanning. She's such an adorable little girl and a great actress, IMO. I think she's been consisently great since I've seen her in I Am Sam. I love seeing a darker character from her. For only being ten years old, she's quite extraordinary.

Okay, so the DVD extras are a little lacking. What there IS is interesting, but there's really not that much on there.

I haven't listened to the commentary, but intend to when I buy the movie, lol

There are 4 alternate endings on the DVD. The DVD gives you the option of watching 5 different versions of the movie: theatrical, and with each of the 4 alternate endings. Or you can just watch the endings (go to Special Features). With or without commentary.

First ending: happy ending, almost exactly like the theatrical ending with one minor change.

Second ending: entirely different scene that the last one in the theatrical version. With Famke and Dakota, sort of the same idea as the theatrical ending though.

Third ending: the best IMO. Almost identical to the 2nd alternate ending with a more interesting "twist."

Fourth ending: again, almost identical to the 2nd ending with a little change at the end.

There are some deleted scenes on there, didn't count though, lol. But interesting scenes. One in particular was a little trippy, involving Dakota and how "disturbed" she appeared to be, and yet clearly traumatized by her mother's suicide. Really shoulda stayed in the film, I though. Was a great scene.

The making of featurette: About 10 minutes, enough to give ya an idea on the shoot. Didn't really need to show more, so I thought that was good.

They showed storyboards of 3 scenes they hadn't filmed, extended scenes rather... and you can see why they didn't film them.

As for the movie itself, I really enjoyed it. Good psychological thriller. Although, I hafta agree with what many_masks said... the "twist" is a little on the predictable side. It didn't come outta thing air for me. I admit I hadn't been convinced it was that particular twist, but early on in the movie the thought had crossed my mind. Enough to have it make sense for me, and not be one bit surprised if they did in fact go that route. But, I'm glad they chose that one, it fit much better with how the movie played out. Although, thinking about it, it's very obvious who "Charlie" was. Too obvious cause I'd already guessed it very early. Just didn't think they'd actually have it play like that, lol. Seemed that obvious to me.

I'm trying to stay a little vague about that twist cause while I gave the spoiler warning, still don't wanna ruin it for anyone, heeeeee.

But I really liked it, and recommend it to anyone who likes those psychological movies. Reminded me a bit of Sixth Sense.
