Wow.. the aftermath of a major holiday party.
My husband and I hosted a holiday potluck and party for a bunch of our friends from AX. Wow.. was it crazy... It was supposed to start at 4:00 PM, but people started showing up at 2! By the time 4 came around, there were already 10 people... and the food just started pouring in.
There was cold meat and cheese sides, chips and dip; as starters; baked 3-cheese pasta. Woodranch, Peking Duck, Chinese pot stickers, KFC, and another chicken dish; salads, marinated mushrooms, mashed potatoes, biscuits, coleslaw, potato salad; and oh my god the sweets... There were 2 chocolate cakes, flan, cookies (lemon, chocolate chip, and a bar cookie), a muffin cake, chocolate stout cupcakes, Korean rice balls, and 3 cartons of ice cream! Talk about a lot of food...
With 25 people, the place was busy!
People were trying out the
Wii and making there own Mii's. Those are avatars of players that can be used in Wii Sports. People were having a blast with the ones that I've already created, and the ones that were made on the spot. Let's just say some people insisted that we take side by side shots with the Mii's. *lol* There was the Karaoke Revolution, and Guitar Heroes, and people were just having a blast. It was great to see everyone have a great time.
Then, there was the White Elephant. For those who are not familiar to what a "white elephant" is, it's a form of gift exchange, and a rather entertaining one at that. The participants buy a gift that is within the agreed limit, and have it wrapped up anonymously (no tags of any kind) and place it a gift pile. When all participants are ready, a drawing is done to determine the order of who draws first. This is the fun part. The first person to select chooses a random item from the pile and opens it up for all to see. It may be something cool, OR.... da da da dum.... A really... really bad, but funny gift. Now, the next person has the option of "stealing" the item... or choosing a new one. And there's a maximum number of steals an item can be stolen... Now say... someone chose to break the limit and has a bottle of Crown Royal in the pile. It's bound to get stolen... and VERY quickly. So the empty handed person has the option of choosing a new gift, or stealing an item that s/he did not have possession of prior. Obviously, there's a lot of laughter and stealing, and sometimes.. a bit of team work.
This year's list of items? Rather fun :) Some people would regift things, or bring back items from a previous white elephant.
