umm, wednesday's entry?

okay… i’ve just spent the past 15 minutes trying to wrasle the wireless internet connection into submission. I lost. so, again, I find myself in Word, trying to ignore the fact that all my words are caps’d and horrible.

this morning I woke up at like nine… ate two huge bowls of cheerios and bananas… an’ then me an’ my man hit the road at about ten-ish… stopped at coffee gallery for some joe and also tramped into the art gallery next door. looked at art. most of it, I could not afford. at all. but some of it was pretty cool and not that expensive. some things might come home with us… who knows?

after that, we took the road south and headed out of the north shore. stopped at zippy’s in pearl city and ate (me) chili and rice and (kelly) a zip-pac with fried chicken, mahimahi, teri beef, spam and rice. oh my goodness, I’ve missed this place.

drove to a town called waikele in the middle of the island (again, I didn’t get lost cos I’m not a tourist) and hung out at borders books and music for a couple of hours. why, you ask, would I do such a thing? fly all the way out to Hawaii only to blow hours at borders? well, I forgot to tell you - I have missions.

one mission is to find a book of real Hawaiian recipes for my mom. also, I need to find a Hawaiian language learning system (book w/ cd or cd-rom or dvd or whatev) so that I can keep what little Hawaiian language I have left and so that Kelly (and whoever else) can learn. also, I need to find and purchase good Hawaiian music. so, for these reasons I spent a ton of minutes at borders.

after that, we took our rental car back to Alamo to exchange it for a different one, the one we had was a… buick lacrosse something or other. I didn’t like it b/c it made me look like a tourist. Kelly didn’t like it b/c it acts like it wants to be cool, but its neither sporty nor luxury and so it isn’t at all cool. anyhoo, we took it back b/c it had horrible gas mileage and traded it in for something smaller. which, btw, is red with a spoiler and a happy little V6 engine. :)

after that, we went to the mall to try to complete another mission: I need real Hawaiian decals for my car and...other things like worship folders and laptops and bass cases. we tried three or four different surf shops and thus far I am not satisfied. hopefully I’ll have better luck on the morrow.

after the mall, we went to another art store to look at more art and then...

THE OLIVIA SHOW.

hahahaha - we were walking into the venue, both feeling kinda like the "odd man out" (men? wait - no that's not right either. man and woman? persons? yeah persons.) the "odd persons out" b/c there were all kinds of high school kids there and we all know that me an' kelly aren't cool enough to hang out with high-schoolers - especially high schoolers who don't know us yet... anyways, we were feeling a bit insecure: what if we don't get to see the guys? what if nobody talks to us? what if we really are just posers from the mainland?... you know, dumb stuff like that. anyways, in the middle of our insecurity, my friend Justin comes from out of nowhere and tackles us. [sigh] it’s so nice to feel like you really belong, you know? anywhere the Body is, there you belong.

speaking of belonging, you guys are so lucky I love you cos JUST FOR YOU, I stood on a chair for an hour with my arm up in the air like a weirdofreak and taped the whole stinking show. so now, when I get home, you’ll get to watch it if you want and the boys had some things to say just to their friends in florida too, so that’s cool. oh yeah, the new drummer, joel… he’s good.

we didn’t leave the show until 11, so the only thing open was jack in the box (which we had already on the night we came in) and then zippy’s again and so zippy’s won. for dinner, I had REAL SAIMIN (not that horrible ramen stuff you get in the grocery store) and Kelly bought a teri beef plate with mac(aroni) salad. we ate and then we drove back home and here I am.

holy moly. b/c Kelly drove all day yesterday, today was my first time driving during the daytime. it was so amazing, you guys. I had like a kabillion chances to get lost and I DIDN’T! today is actually the first day that I’m just happy to be back. no baggage, no expectations, just happiness. I like it.

also, I think we’ll have to not wait another 8 years before coming back again. maybe in 2 years...? I don’t know, we’ll see...

footnote: we saw mikki bridgeman at the show tonight. you don't know auntie mikki, but she went to kelly's church (north shore christian fellowship) and was going to cater our wedding [sniff, sniff]. anyhoo, they’re still having Bible study at their house every Tuesday and so next week Kelly and I are going. I can’t wait! :)

tomorrow, I think I’m going to hit Hale’iwa in the morning - look for a new swim suit and more decals… maybe some art and other items… Kelly will be surfing until noon, so I have the morning to do what I want… then we meet up for lunch at the Hale Wai Drive Inn (oh man, I can’t wait...Korean BBQ Chicken plate, here I come!), and then to Tower Records to find some used (read: CHEAP) Hawaiian music and then we drive into town to hear Auntie Genoa Keawe sing a free concert at some hotel. I know you guys don’t know who that is, but she’s a living legend in Hawaiian music. the fact that I get to see her for free is amazing. I hope I find the right place… :)

I’m quite tired now. type at you guys again on the morrow…
much love from us (and yes, we do miss you and yes, we want to know how jr high went cos we prayed for you guys and stuff)...
myself :)
