1) i really understand what baekhyun said here. well, chanyeol and kris and exo and indirectly the entire sme got fucked up because of his stupid action, and he didn't want chanyeol to have his heart broken because it would be indirectly his fault too, as he thought. chanyeol got closer to kris and he eventually fell in love, but it was him who made them being close from the first place. if he hadn't done that mistake then chanyeol wouldn't be close with kris and he wouldn't fall in love and have broken heart later, or so he thought. he just wanted to protect chanyeol from further damage, as the best of friend he was.
2) chanyeol's determination in maintaining his relationship with kris is reasonable too. i mean, if i were him i would probably do the same thing. he loved kris, and there was a chance (altho it seemed so slim and almost impossible) that the other guy felt the same thing, so why giving up? he just lost jongdae okay, and it was kris who made him felt nothing about that news. he felt nothing with jongdae because he had kris already by his side, and he thought it was good enough (okay dafuq with my girly mind). he wanted more affections from kris, so when he knew how dildo works (lmao chanyeol you poor thing) he became imagining things? and the awkward encounter with kaihun just made his imaginations worsened lol. but all and all he did realize that he only had less than four months to be with kris so he wanted to cherish every moment with kris? he just wanted more time with kris especially after being left because of the tight schedule of exo.
3) first of all i want to ask you, will kaihun's closeness with chanyeol be exposed to mass media or something? if yes then i pity baekhyun because he will feel pretty much left out. he thought chanyeol just gave him a childish silent treatment (because they've been the best of friends for years) but then he found out that chanyeol made friends with other people, thought that he's being replaced by people from the idols (models) chanyeol got from his semi-celebrity networking. baekhyun didn't know the reality of how they became friends, but with the silent treatment and befriending with kaihun were enough for him to jump into conclusions.
