Wu-Tang Forever

We were this close!!!!!!!!!

Well, we got to Emo's fairly early, considering we came from San Antonio and Emo's is in Austin... We got pretty close to the stage.

The opening acts were actually pretty good, but when Wu-Tang came on it was just crazy. Masta Killa opened up with a few songs from his old album and his August-release one. He also did some older stuff like Duel of the Iron Mic ("It's the 52 fatal strikes!").

Then Inspectah Deck came out as Masta Killa slunk into the shadows (just like on their albums - attack, then pass the baton to the next emcee). He opened with his classic verse from Triumph (the one I quoted in the previous post). Then he did a few from his albums, and then.. and THEN... he just walked out into the crowd!

Method Man came up after that with surprise guest Streetlife from the Wu-Tang albums! The performed a bunch of classic stuff.

But when they were doing Da Rockwilder, I was screaming Red Man's verse and Streetlife saw me and pointed the microphone at me like "You know it, you do it" and I recited for a while, but then I switched two of the lines and Streetlife finished off the rest of the song :(

Method Man took a small break and was just talking to the crowd, hyping us up. He went around and showed people the Wu-Tang handshake and I was one of the people he demonstrated it on!!!!

And then, OMFG..... Rza just ran out onstage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RZA!!!
He's the one who started Wu-Tang, and one of the greatest producers alive. He has done the musical score for both Kill Bill movies, Ghost Dog: The Way of The Samurai, Soul Plane, Blade Trinity and many others. He raps and makes the beats for many artists. He started the whole high-pitched voice sampling (he doesn't do it anymore, since everyone stole it) and his beat style is very unique.

Well, he wasn't even supposed to be there! We all went crazy as he jumped right into Bring Da Ruckus, a Wu-Tang classic.... man it was insane.

It was badass. Method Man kept stage diving, everyone was spraying water and people started lighting up joints and moshing. Then Method Man invited us onstage with them, and I was up there!

I told Inspectah Deck that he was my favorite, and then we just jammed onstage with the Wu-Tang Clan, the freakin' Wu-Tang Clan! We eventually were told to get off by security, but it was cool.

It eventually ended, and I went out to see them load onto the bus.

Method Man was swarmed with people so he just ran into the bus. I got Inspectah Deck to sign Wu-Tang's debut album Enter the 36 Chambers! He has very broad shoulders.

Then I saw Rza getting ready to leave and tried to get him to sign the album, but the head of security said he's not giving anymore autographs. I tried again and put it where he can see it, Rza took it and said "I always sign these." Then he pointed at a picture of Ol' Dirty Bastard (his cousin) and said "There's ODB right there." He said it so sadly, it bummed me out a bit. I shook hands with him and offered my condolences. RIP ODB :(

After Rza, I saw Masta Killa in the back of the line with 2 or 3 girls getting pictures taken. That sucks, because all the other members have crowds of people around them and Masta Killa must feel overshadowed. The thing is though, that in the past 2-3 years Masta Killa has kept his music more "Wu" than any other member. I told him that last part and said that his 2 CDs were great. He gave me the shake/hug and said he appreciated the support.

We got to Emo's at 8:30 pm. We got home at 4 am.

And that was my great Wu-Tang adventure.
