so this is weird. i'm actually rather well preped for sunday's audition, yet i'm starting to get a little nervous. i know the excerpt they sent (om golly you guys, easiest thing in the world), i've got a pretty badass piece that i play pretty well (not like, the professional quality that's on the recording, but i played it at my lesson, and the first thing my teacher said was "wow" in a good way. i've worked relaly hard on it, and i feel pretty good about it. i even practiced scales. i mean, since when do i do that? i ran through them all again today; just down to 4 flats, and up to 5 sharps, because they don't ask you to play further than that. 5 sharps is unlikely, but if they give me a choice, i just might do it. but i'm super preped, and for nearly the first time in my memory, i'm nervous for an audition. i don't get nervous. but i am a little now. see, i think that part of it is that i put brand new Obligatos on my viola on monday (Obligatos are basically my favorite kind of string. especially in the 2 lower ones. but i also really like Helicore and Corelli Alliance), and the A and D are fine, and sound great. my C peg changes the most with the weather, so it's been a little troublesome, but it's fine. but my G won't finish stretching. seriously. after 5 days. COME ON! i have to retune that one, like really retune, not just minor adjustments, every time i play. and my viola usually holds a tune pretty well.... so that's bothering me. and i think something weird's going on with my bow. it feels sticky when i play. it doens't make sense. when i put more rosin on it it sounds/feels better for a bit, but then gets crazy again. i'd switch bows, but my other one has no power. and the crazy one is my favorite. i hand picked it when i chose my viola. maybe i need to switch back to my french rosin. that one is a better rosin, even if jana broke it, and it gets powder everywhere when you use it..... ugh! this is long and boring, but i don't care. i just need to calm down. and stop rushing the second half.
