Application for squarewarts

In-Game Character Information
Name: Raziel Divinus
Series: Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal and The Stupidest Angel, both by Christopher Moore
Age: 17

Personality:

Upon first impression, Raziel appears to be almost heavenly in appearance. He's handsome, has a kind smile, and seems to be the model student. This impression is effectively ruined the moment he opens his mouth. He is clueless in almost all situations, mainly due to his restricted upbringing, and his logic and reasoning leave something to be desired. He is almost childlike in his intelligence, curious and inquisitive, but ultimately not that smart, something that no doubt will be frustrating to his peers.

He is distracted easily, and his mind typically fails to stay focused on one task for long amounts of time. He's hopelessly naive, and usually is the first to accept things as soon as they are presented to him (even if said things are Soap Operas not so cleverly disguised as documentaries).

Raziel, to be blunt, is a simple creature. His wants and desires are basic and clean-cut, and it would be hardly an understatement to say that he cannot tell a lie or deceive. However, this naivety can cause severely stupid results. Raziel is the person that typically means well, but often messes up with the translation from intention to action.

Background:

Raziel was an orphaned child who was found at the entrance to a magical commune in a handbasket, there was no knowledge of his origins, background, or family other than a simple note found amongst his white blankets saying "This is Raziel. Take him off my hands --the Father".

The commune, a place sealed off from the outside worlds of both magical and muggle, took Raziel in and raised him as one of their own. The commune was strict, forbidding acts of free will for the most part and Raziel's childhood was interesting to say the least. At the commune, there was an extensive education on the history of magic, as well as a basic instruction on how to read and write, how to sing, and the intellectual hunt to discover the source of magic. Raziel was instilled with the knowledge of all these things, but more importantly than that, Raziel was taught to obey, to serve the elders of the commune collectively referred to as The Seraphim.

The Seraphim were good, if not always wise, leaders, and they made it the commune's mission to serve those in the outside world, to use their magic as a way of allievating the world's pain...and in cases of those who used dark magic without a permit, punish them severely. Raziel's noble task within the commune was mainly to weather watch, after it became painfully apparent that he was not cut out for the job of a messanger (he delivered his first message to a remote wizarding village asking for aid about ten weeks late) or the job of a future Seraphim, as no person in their right mind would allow Raziel to learn hexes, what with his inability to remember what he was doing and the fact that he would often deliver messages to the wrong places. But for the most part, Raziel was content with his duties since he often was good with weather predictions. Life was basic for young Raziel, but he was happy there.

Everything changed when Raziel turned eleven, as he was the first person within the commune to receive the Hogwarts letter (typically the denizens of the commune left temporarily to go to Beauxbatons for schooling). After a long meeting, the Seraphim eventually decided that perhaps some public education would do Raziel some good.

With that, Raziel left the commune for the first time and embarked upon a life in the outside world, a life full of new discoveries such as candy, comic books, television, and of course, learning to become a wizard at Hogwarts.

...when he finally found the place he was about two months late for the start of term, but that was neither here nor there.

Blood: Unknown, presumably muggle

Preferred House: Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff
Why you think they belong in this house?
Ravenclaw:

I know it seems silly to want to app someone into the Ravenclaw house with "Stupidest" in their username but please bear with me XD

Raziel actually has several Ravenclaw qualities despite being an almost complete moron. He's inquisitive, in his canon he spends every moment watching television because he believes it to be a legitimate source of knowledge, suggesting a studiuous attitude. He has a severe know-it-all complex when it comes to facts, and he becomes very defensive if someone suggests that he's wrong or ignorant. He is quite educated in magical history, and most of his stupider qualities are stemmed from complete naivety and lack of common sense rather than a lack of book knowledge.

Simply put, Raziel loves learning, even if the message doesn't always get through.

Hufflepuff:

Raziel could fit into Hufflepuff because while he is not the most effective worker, he will continue to try his best until the results are either successful (rare) or completely disasterous (not as rare). He also has very noble intentions, trusts openly (perhaps too openly) and possesses a pure heart (being an angel in canon).

School Year: 4th year (he's failed twice)

Quidditch Position: No thanks :o) Although he does enjoy flying.
Would you like the character to possibly get a higher position? That'd be a very bad idea XD

Roleplay Samples

Journal Sample: (first person)

Rejoice my brethren, I, Raziel have finally concluded the dusting and organization of my closet. All the scrolls have been placed neatly on the left side, all of the quills on the right. According to my housemates, this is supposed to boost my productivity and allow me to stop asking them for things. I find that this is the best solution for both sides, as I can now finish writing my story about a charitable spider animagus at Hogwarts and they are no longer calling me a 'mooch'. It's a rather good story, if I say so myself.

I wonder where everyone is?

Roleplay Sample: (third person)

It was a complicated decision, and Raziel found himself staring long and hard at the two items lying ever so innocently on his desk.

To chose the left path, the clearer one, would result in a sour situation that could quite possibly make his stomach churn for days on end.

To chose the right path, the one shrouded in mystery, would be a hardy undertaking that Raziel was not quite certain he was prepared for.

Sweat beaded on his brow, and Raziel bit down on his lower lip as his eyes darted from side to side.

Left. Right. Surely there was a correct decision to be made here?

Raziel quickly closed his eyes, allowing his finger to alternate pointing between the two sides of the desk, utilizing the ancient spell that the Elders at the commune had taught him.

"Eeney, meeney, miney, moe."

As soon as the words were concluded, Raziel opened his eyes.

So be it. The lemon drops would be the chosen ones, for they gave his breath a pleasant smell after consumption and one could never go wrong with that. The Bertie Botts Every Flavored Beans would simply have to wait for another occasion.

ooc, application
