The Four Stages of Eroticism
The 4 stages of eroticism according to C. G. Jung in his text entitled The Psychology of the Transference by CG Jung are represented by Hawwah (Eve), Helen (of Troy), the Virgin Mary, and Sophia. He refers to these as Stages of Eros and/or Anima.
Hawwah represents the mother, but no more, a receptacle in which to hold the future of the species.
Helen of Troy represents not only the reproduction of the species, but also an ego unto itself.
The Virgin Mary represents the highest aspirations of the mother, a god form, but still only a receptacle for the future of the species.
Sophia represents the highest aspirations of the woman.
