And it begins...

So pridefall posts the summery of the leaked Harry Potter book to useless_facts.

Wank ensues.

willowwpryce is taking a special sort of glee in other people being upset or even questioning the relevance of the post.

Not exactly a major stupid, but it has potential.

Edit: Bahleeted already. My first post here and it's gone in less then 10 minutes. Sad clown for me.

Edit again ( Read more... )

you ruined book 7, deleted posts, useless_facts

it's completely off-topic to the point of that community and it bugs the shit out of me. i don't read harry potter, though. just the whole post was stupid and annoying.

OK. OKAY.

ALSO: A huge part of it might be the fact that I AM TIRED OF FUCKING HEARING ABOUT FUCKING HARRY POTTER AND I DO NOT WANT IT IN COMMUNITIES THAT HAVE NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH HARRY FUCKING POTTER.

god yes!
and random threats like:

Dear Flist;
Spoil me and *DIE*!!!!!!!!!!

fine. whatever. im sorry i don't feel this any more than i felt those folks 2 seasons behind on (some tv show) on *current* tv show lists whining about people talking about whats happening.

crawl into a cave, wait for your damn book, read it, and then re-join the rest of the world.

Oh, I hate it when people who are extremely behind on a show act like you can't talk about the current episodes. Look, if you TiVo'd last night's episode and haven't had a chance to watch it yet, that's cool. I'll keep my mouth shut. But if you're a whole season behind or whatever, don't get angry when your friends/co-workers/etc. are discussing what happened on the show last night.

The same goes for movies. There's a grace period, but if it's five years later and you still haven't seen the movie, you've kinda' missed the spoiler-free grace period!

I've seen people on fandom communities actually complain about spoilers in the community. I.E., "OMG, I JUST STARTED WATCHING SEASON ONE! NO SPOILERS! OMG, YOUR ICON IS A SPOILER!"

Honestly, I can see putting really current spoilers behind a cut. But if you're on the first season while everyone else is on the third, you probably shouldn't join the community if you don't wanna' be spoiled.

There's a difference between being spoiled for a TV show that's two seasons behind and spoiling a book that isn't out yet. Is it so wrong to want to be surprised?

not wrong at all.

and im not sure how much credit id give the 'leaked' spoilers, but once the book- this VERY LAST BOOK OF THE THIS MOST BELOVED AND WORSHIPED SERIES- is out?

yes. you should expect to be spoiled at every turn, every conversation and every post. after all, they wanted to spoil you before it was even out.

Well, once it's out, it will not be a problem, and indeed I would expect uncut spoilers. Which is why I'm going from work to the book store to pick up my copy at midnight, thereby neatly avoiding spoilers as I'll have already read it. Hurrah!

Though at least there hasn't been an explosion like the asshole who crashed the line when the sixth book came out and screamed the spoiler while they were waiting for their book... yet.
