But but but, I don't WANNA eat my veggies!

Over in thequestionclub, gothstar wants help to find out how to eat more veggies. Unfortunately, she does not REALLY want to eat any veggies since she has neither the money, time or gag reflex to eat said veggies. There's not really any stupid in the comments, just a lot of "Um, eat them anyway" and "suck it up." The real gold is in all of her lame excuses, most ( Read more... )

What I don't get is how eating veggies makes her feel sick, but endless rounds of fried chicken apparently make her feel healthy?

Also , never said that. I just said I like fried chicken.

Ok. I stand by my original point, though - no matter how sick you "feel" from eating the veggies, I doubt it's as sick as you make your body from NEVER eating any veggies.

I don't "NEVER" eat any veggies, I just realize that I do not eat enough. I probably have 2-3 servings of fruit/veggies a day when I beleive you are supposed to get 5?

Then eat two more servings of the veggies you eat. Double them up.

SHE SHOULD EAT THEM AFTER SHE HAS HER CHEESEBURGER, AND THEN SHE'LL THROW THAT UP TOO

I think it is 3-5, yes. 5-7 servings of fruits and veggies combined. Who knows, it changes all the time.

But not everything you list is a vegetable - potatoes are a starch, they do not have the restorative properties of veggies and they elevate your blood sugar (eventually producing fat) very quickly. Corn is similar. The best vegetables are supposedly those that are dark green and leafy. Potatoes, corn, and iceberg lettuce do not go very far as far as vegetables are concerned.

I usually don't count potatoes as a veggie, but corn and lettuce I do. :( I didn't know that corn wasn't a good veggie, but I know lettuce is almost all water.

Dark leafy lettuce is not all water. There are also vitamins.

And minerals, and fiber.

You know what is really good? Chop up some garlic, and basil, and mix it w/ 2 table spoons of olive oil. Then baste a portobello mushroom cap with it. Coat it as well as possible and grill the thing. Do that instead of a beef patty in a burger, it's delicious. Normally, I really hate mushrooms, but god, I'd kill for a burger like that right now.

Oh, add salt and pepper too, grill each side for 5-7 mins.

That actually sounds sort of good, I'm really iffy about mushrooms, sometimes I can eat them in soup or stirfry.

Is the taste really "earthy" or can you easily mask it?

No, it tastes like awesome and win.

Throw some swiss or provolone cheese on it a minute or two before you take it off the grill!, that would work. Also, dijon mustard goes great (or any condiment, it's easily masked, I promise). You can also do the same thing with slices of eggplant, zucchini, and giant read onion (even though you said your iffy with onion). Seriously, just try it before you say "I'm going to gag". :)
