Apparently saille_rose things it's a-ok for children to bite people, and it isn't the mother's fault!! "because the guy was probably a jerk".

Granted the OP is a quote that may or may not be fake. Regardless, thinking it is in any way alright for a child to bite a stranger is completely and utterly stupid.

what the fuck kind of freak of a kid bites a random stranger hard enough to draw blood?!

That's what I'm thinking. I'm not really sure I've *ever* heard of anyone getting bitten by J Random Kid at the grocery store. And working in daycare for several years and now having kids in preschool, I still haven't seen a bite break the skin.

if that was my kid, i'd be seriously worried about his brain.

Yeeeeeah. Biting kids are pretty common--you still need to break them of the habit and that right early, but it's nothing that a zillion other kids haven't done. Kid who bites hard enough to draw blood? That's a little beyond the pale.

I did that to my cousin the one time, and I stress one time, that he bit me.

Mine too. I bit her once. She bit me back, I (apparently) looked completely baffled and decided I didn't like it. Never did it again.

Yep, I have vivid memories of my mother biting me for biting my little sister. I was only about three. And I never bit anyone again either :p

I have seen it, though when I saw it, it didn't break the skin. A neighbour kid of mine when I was growing up bit a hell of a lot of strangers.

My brother (he was a terror as a young child and is much better now) broke skin once. He bit a kid on the playground. I have never seen my parents quite the same shade of livid/embarrassed since.

Exactly. I'm sure it happens, but most parents don't have skin breaking biters and don't really care about it...
