Well, frankly, I imagine that any one of a number of other citizens would have done what she did and would have been arrested -- prompting a bus boycott that had been building for quite some time anyway *koffkoffClaudette Colvinkoff*.

Thank you! Finally someone remembers that people had been doing bus boycotts for over a year at least before Rosa Parks. She was the most "white-friendly" example though...

Neither did I, but the schools tended to gloss over that period of time, even in my AP US History class (the unit was a stupid little poster project to be done over spring break). It was just MLK Jr., Rosa Parks, maybe Malcolm X.

Because OMG Rosa Parks is the name they can pull out of a hat if they want to give legitmacy to their argument!
Nevermind that it makes them look like suburban white asses.

Perhaps Rosa Parks could get her very own Godwin's Law.

It';s called tubman's law, but is more far reaching than just rosa parks. Like if you compare doing homework to slavery, you're violating tubman's law.

I was going to say this, too. Was Colvinkoff the teenage girl that refused to give up seat on the bus, but didn't get any attention for it because it wasn't backed by a larger movement or is that someone different? That girl was brave. (No disrespect to Rosa Parks, btw)
