Heh. I grew up in Pensacola. The college they're talking about (Pensacola Christian College) is surrounded by this massive fence, and parents aren't allowed in beyond a certain point. It's pretty notorious locally for its strictness, especially when it comes to dating.
We used to call it the Pensacola Concentration Camp.
Pensacola is smack in the middle of the "Bible Belt". Since I moved away it's become a sort of nexus of religious revivals and whatnot. Some of the first (maybe even the first, don't recall now) abortion doctor murders happened there.
So, I guess if you just love the whole rigid religious indoctrination thing, PCC would be the place for you.
I should clarify though, the fence going around the place isn't like something you'd see at a prisoner camp. It's aesthetically pleasing and "pleasant" enough... it's just the fact that the campus is so closed off and all. That made it sort of creepy.
I took a few summer classes at UWF, and thought a lot of the students there were pretty hardcore fundamentalist. This place makes all the conservative students at UWF seem incredibly tame.
When was the last time you were in Pensacola? It's utterly amazing how many evangelical churches you can see on a place like Davis Highway or any other part.
I haven't been to Pensacola since summer of 2005... it was a few months after hurricane Dennis had hit.
Before that... I can't remember. A couple years before Ivan?
And yeah, Pensacola is awash in churches. It's always been a heavily religious city. I moved away back in 1994 and I think it's gotten even more-so since then.

Needless to say, I'm not quite on best of terms with him.
