It's stupid time for the kids over at
libertarianism .
So, Augusto Pinochet, general and President of Chile,
died yesterday. When I heard the news, I expected everyone to celebrate and be merry. Hey, I know I am!
So what do I see when I go to my friends list today?
Personally, I think he was pretty alright as far as Latin American Dictators go. I'm just going by economic policy here, which I think is far more important than social legislation..
WHAT.
Even if you agree with his economic reform, it's pretty difficult to overlook, y'know,
massive human rights violations. But I forgot! Economic policy is more important than "social legislation!"
In the comments,
methodius says that
If Pinochet was a good guy, so were Idi Amin, Saddam Hussein, Robert Mugabe and PW Botha. If you're not living in a dictatorship, you might be happier moving to a country that has one. braddogg tells him/her to
grow up. I can't wait for this to explode as I'm sure it will, since Libertarians never miss the chance to be wanky.
