Yesterday was a great grand day, International Talk Like a Pirate Day! I was meanin' to take the celebration of the day too far, as I often do.
For breakfast I fried up some seasoned beef and yellow pepper, and finished my "mojito" from the night before. It was already lookin to be a piratey day! I dressed myself in my finer pirate garb, my breezey gause shirt and my brand new silk shirt, dress socks.. It was a nicer look for Moondog Ross.
As I left the house I noticed it was raining. And I thought to meself, "fine day for a pirate of my kind."
When I got to skool it was still raining, and it continued to rain as I walked to class. I got soaken wet! While it did make the costume more authetic, I was on the land and not expecting to be getting wet. I was wearing silk and leather and it was likely to be ruined. And it at it's least it made my new silk shirt see-thru, so yeah, not only was the kind of jerk who would be walking around in costume, but I was probably flashin nip at some point.
As I walked around the campus I heard under-the-breath comments, people answering their friends questions about why I was dressed like a pirate, etc. Mostly though I was a reminder for people that it was the 19th already, and they should be speakin like a pirate.
Still, I was beginning to think it wasn't goin to be a jolly pirate day. I was wandering, as a roving adventurer tends to do, lookin everywhere for me crew and me pirate allies. But no one was anywhere to be found. So I kinda gave up and started back for class. And That's when Nathan Issac Polaris (Dan) came up from behind and greeted me. So there we were, two true pirates standing in the rain, both roaming and wandering. So we, together, hung around and skipped class. We went to get some food, fish, and apparently were all the talk of the galley when we walked in. I showed off my navigator to my pirate enthusiast friends at the theatre. And we just wandered around some more until classes.
Later we met up with Kelly and went out to eat, still keeping the pirate theme; we had so much food! People kept asking us why were dressed up, if the holiday was real or something on Facebook, and we assured them it is real. Someone asked us where we worked and wouldn't believe us that we didn't work anywhere where you would need to dress up and play pirate. O! But on a related note, Dan did secure our performance in October, so yay, we have a new pirate gig coming up. Huzzah! It be a great grand pirate day!
