making plans, taking names

So things have picked up for me, I'm making progress. To start, that casting fiasco seems to be resolved once and for all. All I have left to do in this project is coach the actors during one day of shooting, and I should be good. I'm pleased that's wrapping up.

In the world of Project Spotlight, we had our first meeting with the faculty. That's a big deal. We discussed some problems we faced during the last OAF and, more importantly, solutions for them. It was a great meeting that really left us on a good foot to continue from. So, kudos.

Last night Matthew and I had a meeting with two film kids. They approached us after CMF:Florida and said they would like to work with us. Unfortunately, we didn't have anything to bring them, but we did talk about what we've done, what we want to do, everything between, and then a bunch of unnecessary stuff. But it seems like we've made a great connection. They seem like great people and I would love to work with them, so come this summer, I'm gonna have something for them.

But the biggest news of all is this: The Importance of Playing Yardball has been selected as one of the Top 16 films in the entire 2007 Campus Movie Fest. The film will be shown in Atlanta for CMF as part of the Atlanta Film Festival. This Is Huge for us. So, we're all going up to Atlanta next weekend, stay at a hotel, check out this film festival, and then we're going to get to see our film in this magnificent theatre. And then, we're going to be on a Q&A panel to talk about our film. This Is Crazy! I can't believe this is happening. Both Stephanie and Adam had to make me understand just how big of a deal this whole thing is. None of us ever thought it would go, or could go this far. Like, we got reviewed by the Tampa Tribune. I didn't think that would happen. And they liked it too!
