I just noticed a bunch of cuts in my knuckles.
Hey! Last night the apartment-- what are they laughing at? [gets up to go see what happened in the living room]
Okay, Last night the apartment threw a pirate party to have a last hurrah before the coming semester. But secretly, for me, we threw it for our new roomate (who couldn't be there until 1ish) and to get new people who have been missing out on the parties to finally show. Unfortunately, for me, neither of those goals were really accomplished.
I did get Jessi to dress up all cute and piraty, and having her there made my whole night. But as far as the new pirates we've been trying to have over, none of them showed. That kinda sucked. I got a good response when I sent out notices we would have it, then no response when I sent out the actual invites a day later. But in the end, the party turned out alright.
It started off slow, then picked up into pirate party fashion with lots of singing and dancing. After that started to wind down, the party picked back up again when new people showed up. These new people were not friends of ours, but friends of a friend, and nobody in that circle was really dressed piraty. So at this point, the party started to be more of a generic party. This process happened again; someone in the outside circle of friends invited their friends, and it became even less piraty, and more generic. It was a good party, but not a pirate party. Just a party with pirates in it.
One kid, I later found out, showed up and snuck beers in, which is alright, he wasn't drinking any of my stuff. But this kid was complaining about the party! He was bitching about how loud it was, and that people who were dancing didn't know how to dance. If I would have heard this, I'd ask him just what he thinks goes on a parties, and then I would have told him to leave. I mean, what is that? Kid wasn't even a pirate anyway. He couldn'teven do a shot. You don't sip over a period of time.. you schmuck.
I did get to meet another guy. Another Kevin with the same tast in music as me, so that was good. I was adding Against Me! and he got real excited so he watched me add more indie rockish stuff, which he loved, and helped me decide what Postal Service songs to add. Very cool.
And as a few people finally started to call it a night, a lot just stayed around. Forever. The party went on until about 4, and then started to actually die down, but it wasn't until 6 that we called it a night.
Cleaning up this morning wasn't too bad. I could tell form last night it wasn't gonna be as crazy as previous parties have been. One thing though, someone brought us a case of Coors Light. Nobody here drinks beer. So... idunno, maybe I'll give it to my dad. That didn't bother me though. What bothered me was somebody put five bottles in the freezer, and then forgot about them! I just happened to check on the freezer and found these on-the-verge-of-exploding bottles leaking into our ice tray. Which I need to go do something about.
Idunno. Weird night. Odd turnout for a pirate party. I will see to it that the next one is better, and makes up for this one. (ie, Perry takes the helm).
