sometimes I just hate this skool! at least it's unjustified administration. I imagine most skools are terrible with their money, but I'm willing to say UCF is the worst.
I was surprised to find brand new holds on my account here that sprung up out of nowhere. I was suddenly over $500 in debt to the skool. I knew this was wrong because I had just checked my balance, and because my scholarship should have covered well more than that amount. So today I investigated it. Apparently I had neglected to pay $284.35 for the past two semesters. I checked what the fees were for, and they were each the sums of different fees, that somehow added up to the same amount. Well, because I had clearly paid both semesters and been able to continue taking classes, this was obviously a mistake on UCF's part. I went all over Millican hall until this was taken care of.
What had happened was my scholarship donors decided to take money they already gave me back. You can't do that! So they took over $500 out of scholarships that I already had spent. Thankfully the skool didn't pin this on me this time and they are fixing the problem. Which is good, cuz I was upset I was still dealing with this crap. If it hadn't been for the awesome girl behind the Student Accounts desk (who I would get along Great with), I would still be in a bad mood.
Unfortunately, despite handling this problem I uncovered another error on UCF's part regarding MY money. My student records hadn't included my apartment number with my address, so they sent my refund money (over a grand!) to no address. I had recently come across this error and recified it myself, but not before they had sent out the check. So, I had to have the check cancelled, and I think the awesome girl is making it so they'll send out a second one now that my address has been corrected, and I should get my much needed and deserved money.
However, this raises a question for me. Since I had fixed the address I've had for the past year just now, has UCF been mailing refund money to no address all this time? My records show that I had refunds from each semester (over $600 just last spring), but I don't recall getting a whopping check in my mail. So, more investigation is to be done.
