I have a picture in my biotechnology text book that shows the progression of corn. And there were original, Native Americans gave it to the Pilgrims-corn seeds left at a germatory (I have to double check my vocab use on that one), but it was in New Orleans, and was destroyed by Katrina. I think there may be another germatory place that still has them... the book has a list.
