Pirate Fest!

Jan 29, 2006 18:47

we all somehow managed to wake up early, get together, and trek over to Tampa for the Gasparilla Pirate Fest. It was me Moondog Ross, Captain Jesse, Dark Matthew, Mad Jenny (Nicky), and my lovely Scarlet (Perry). We been such a motley crew of marauders. Jesse be the fine Captain with his gold-trimmed leather coat and a pistol in his belt. (we were surprised that none of the hungreds of cops that were there minded or even commented on it. seriously, there was an assload of cops.) Jenny be halfway between a gypsy and a wench but still ruthless as ever. Matthew be draped in dark colors that complimented his already dark hair, eyes, and soul. Scarlet be a prestigious looking privateer, very powerful looking and as beautiful as ever. (she also has a bosom from heaven) And I be the warrior at her side, dressed from head to toe in black, with dark eyes, crazy hair, and dark leather armor that me captain had given to me for my victories. We all were pretty sexy looking, each one of us awesome in our own way. Individually we looked like good armor, but collectively we were probably the best dressed pirates of the whole event. We definitely been the best of the pirates scoutin throughout the landlubbers. We saw only a few people who were dressed like pirates, not just in piratey clothing. People would yell "ooh pirates!" or say, "look at them, they're real pirates." A LOT of 'em would say "arr" at us, and we'd give a big guttural "aye!" back. I even scared one girl when I yelled it back. As we walked around we been stopped a number of times to take photographs, and sometimes people would just take them as we walked by. So, without a shadow of a doubt, we been the most piratey pirates at the festival.
And being such grand pirates as we be, we thought we should sneak ourselves into the parade. We walked for a couple of hours, probably four or five miles. Eventually the parade started and we were still a few blocks away from the beginning. We soon noticed we would be picked out amongst the YMKG cuz we didn't have a million beads hanging off our arses. So we just tromped back and collected beads along the way. And by that I mean I climbed a tree or would get Jenny on my shoulders and grab some that were caught in the branches. We also had been starvin for some sort of food and drink, but we weren't going to give up our hard-earned money to the thieves with the corn-dog stands. Instead we strayed from the course and came across a small Caribbean restaurant. They had food worthy of the grandest pirates, it was delicious. That made us feel quite a bit better and ready to take charge again. We ventured back to the end of the parade and much to our surprise we hadn't missed the last of it. We watched some of the best of the floats go by, and tried collectin beads and what have ye. And finally when the parade ended mine eye caught the spectators bleeding into the parade route. I yelled, "let's take the streets" and jumped the barricade in front of me. Matthew and me got into the riotous streets and picked up whate'er we could grab until we had a sackful of beads.
Once the parade was over mine crew be curious as to what event we be partakin' in next. We wandered the streets a bit. They had a carnival, and some bands playing music on stages. The first one we came across was a horrible cover band doing "My Own Worst Enemy". We immediately concluded that the festivities of the remainder of the evening would not suit our tastes. That means we wanted to leave. So we's boarded our vessel and tried to fight our way out of the port and back to our home. We became quite tired of walking by then.
