So, I think I'm sick of hearing and having people bring me down about the movie I'm making because each and every one of them says the same thing.
"It's a great script! Love it! Only, I don't think you can make it without more money."
Well screw you too. Come on, no one seems to say
"oh wow, this is a great script! Here's some money."
Or
"This is great, and you doing it on how much? Incredible. You guys are what independent filmmaking is all about."
But no, I'm starting to think that filmmaking, no matter what people say, is about money. People may say, "I'm doing it for the art." but what they really want is money. or they already make enough money that they can do whatever they want.
Yes, I understand that we don't have a large budget and things will be difficult. We can't get everything exactly the way we want it and have to be very creative in the way we do things. Also, going to have trouble with blood and puppets. But isn't this what independent filmmaking is all about. Making cult classics. Now if I make it and it does good and someone, like a studio, wants to come along and give us money to make a better version. Great, but we don't have that luxury. I want to make films, not sit in a office trying to survive while trying to sell my stuff to someone so they get to make it or they get to tell me how things are done.
Sorry, just wanted to vent.
