tl;dr is always welcome. :D

But I still find him adorable. Can't help it.

The fact that he almost never gets to actually use his punch helps, I think - he's always getting knocked back or blown up with it, which helps balance out the "huge and menacing" aspect. That and he's like Megatron's big evil puppy. He will fetch sticks and find lost objects and probably sit at his master's feet while he reads the paper if he asked.

But he's an interesting character, in spite of being a jerk.

I feel like the show gives him reasons for being a jerk (especially later) without excusing his jerkiness, which is kind of nice. It gives him dimension. And I love the fact that Optimus occasionally pushes back at him, but afterwards he’s always trying to repair that friendship - he doesn’t actually want to cut off ties with him, probably thanks to his guilt over losing Elita (which it turns out probably caused some of Sentinel’s jerkiness), even though he’s getting literally nothing out of that friendship at the start of the series. It’s interesting and sad and I like it a lot.

... I want to see this now.

I didn’t notice until my friend watched “Transform and Roll Out” and came back saying “So, Ratchet and Dr. McCoy are basically the same character, right?”. And then I realized that given that he gets a “I’m a medibot, not a field commander!” line, so the writers probably realize it too.

And she's also a robot, sort of. It's not that bad.

Is it bad that my first thought when I realized I shipped it was “she gets older and is part robot anyway so it’s okay”? I love interspecies relationships of all stripes, including romance, and they just enjoy each other’s company so much and he gets so worried about her in TransWarped and lets her sleep in his driver’s seat. I feel sort of weird shipping it because so soon as she hits her teenage years (like when she might actually start being interested in relationships) it starts getting awkward, but they’re so cute I don’t even care. :D

... I also found it hilarious that Starscream could have actually managed to blow up Megatron if he hadn't felt the need to add a speech before the bomb went off.

And then even after that it takes ages to explode. Methinks someone stuck a couple of extra zeroes onto that countdown. You should pay more attention to these things, Starscream!

The whole Big Happy Family vibe the Autobots and Sari have going on is really just adorable.

It is! It’s just. I want to read completely gen, slice-of-life fic about them all doing completely mundane family things - watching movies, taking Sari out for ice cream, arguing over bedtime, figuring out the strange human concept of laundry (because I belatedly realized that they not only have to figure out how to feed her but how to do her laundry and install plumbing for her and learn to be parents, basically), getting into snowball fights…I just want to read about them bonding and learning to be a family. ♥
