Chapter 1: Seasons Change, But People Don't
Becky decided to take four year old Destiny to the park. She was going to be worked the night shift so she wanted to do something fun with her daughter during the day. She put Destiny in the stroller and headed off to the park. Once they got to the park Becky took Destiny out of the stroller and watched her play.
Another mother came with two boys. "Hello, my name is Patricia Stumph." "Hi, I'm Becky Anderson. That's my daughter over there. Her name is Destiny." "My oldest ran that way. His name is Kevin and is seven and this is Patrick. He just turned four. Destiny turned four two months ago." "Do you live around here?" "Yeah, on Chestnut Street." "Oh my, you just moved in, right?" "Yeah, three weeks ago. My husband and I got divorced and I needed a change. So I moved here." "You aren't going to believe this, but we live right next door." "Really? That's great." The moms talked for awhile and the children played.
"Well, I better get going. I have to be to work in a little bit and get Destiny to the babysitter." "Oh, where do you work?" "I'm a nurse at the hospital at the Behavioral Unit." "Must be hard work?" "Yeah, but I do enjoy it." "You know what? Why don't I take Destiny. We live right next door and another child won't matter to me. That way you won't have to pay out money. I know we just met. I promise you I'm normal." "Are you sure?" "Yes. I actually have two toddler beds in Patrick's room. His cousin stays over occasionally." "You sure you won't mind?" "Not at all. Come on boys." Patrick and Kevin came running. So did Destiny. Patricia put Patrick in the stroller and Becky did the same to Destiny.
They walked home and Becky gave Destiny to Patricia and went home to get ready and to pack a bag for Destiny. She went over and dropped off the bag and said goodbye to Destiny. Destiny was playing with Patrick. "Destiny, mommy has to go to work. I'll be back in the morning to pick you up. You have a good time and be a good girl. I love you." "Bye mommy. I love you." Becky left. "Why does your mommy have to work?" Patrick asked. "Mine doesn't." "My daddy didn't love us and left, so she had to work." Destiny looked down and had tears in her eyes. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you cry. Here, you can play with my teddy bear." Destiny looked up at Patrick and knew she had found a good friend.
Patrick and Destiny played while Patricia cooked supper. Patrick's dad came home at 5:00. "Hey buddy. Who's your friend?" "This is Destiny. She lives next door and her mom has to work so she is going to stay here." "I see. Where is your mom?" "In the kitchen." Patrick's dad went to the kitchen. "Hi honey. So what's up with the new kid?" "Hi Ryan. Her mom just moved to Chicago and works nights. I told her she could spend the nights here instead of paying out for a babysitter. Her husband left her. I hope that's alright." "Sure. Patrick sure likes her." "Yeah, they are the same age."
They ate supper. For once in a long time Destiny felt like she was part of a family. After supper everyone cleaned up. "Destiny, do you want to watch some cartoons before bed?" Patrick asked. "Sure." She was still holding his bear. "Dad, can we watch some cartoons?" "Sure son." They went into the living room and watched some cartoons. A few hours later Patricia told Destiny and Patrick that it was time for bed. They went upstairs. Destiny got out her nightgown and took off her shirt. "Destiny, what happened to your back?" Patrick asked. Destiny's back was covered with bruises. She turned around quickly. "Nothing." She put on her nightgown and went to brush her teeth. Patrick got into his pajama's and went to the bathroom to brush his teeth.
When Patrick came back to his room Destiny was already in her bed. He got into his his bed. Patricia and Ryanst came in to say goodnight and to read a story. They left and shut the lights off. "Patrick, do you want your bear back?" "No, you can keep it for the night. Good night Destiny. I'm glad I met you." "Me too. I'm glad we moved to Chicago."
~Six Years Later~
"Patrick, give me my doll back." Patrick ran around the house. "Patricia, Patrick won't give me my doll back." "Okay, honey. I'll talk to him." She went to find him. A few minutes later she had Destiny's doll. "There you go." "Thank you." Destiny went back to playing with her doll. "You had to get my mom." "Well, if you would of given her back. You are such a meanie." She suck her tongue out at Patrick. "I liked it when you were gone." Destiny just got home from her dad who lived in Wisconsin. Patrick pushed her. "Ow. Stop." Destiny cried. "I'm sorry. I didn't push you that hard. Are you alright?" "Yeah. I'm fine."
That night it was quiet in the Stump household. Destiny still stayed at night. Her mom continued to work at night. Destiny was considered a daughter to Patricia and Ryan. After supper, Patricia and Ryan sat the kids down to talk to them. "What's wrong?" Kevin asked. Ryan and Patricia looked at each other. "We are getting a divorce. Things aren't working out with your mom and I." "Destiny looked down. She had been through this before. "You can't. What are we going to do?" Patrick asked. "We will get through this, Patrick. Your dad and I are going to remain friends. So don't worry. We aren't getting a divorce because of anything you kids did. Please understand that. If you need to talk to us, we are always here. For all of you. Even you Destiny." She looked up. "Okay. I think I'm going to bed." Destiny got up. "Come here." Ryan said. Destiny turned around. "Can I have a hug?" She ran to him and hugged him. "I'll be coming around to see you. Don't forget that." She had tears in her eyes. "Okay. Thank you." She hugged Patricia and went to bed.
A few hours later Patrick came to bed. "Dest, are you awake?" "Yeah." She turned over. "What do you want?" "I want to know if you are alright. You didn't look too good before." "I'm just sad. My parents got divorce and now yours. Maybe I'm bad luck." "Never. Don't say that." "Why doesn't my dad love me, Patrick?" She started crying. "Come here." She got out of bed and went to his. Patrick grabbed something under his pillow. "Now, I'm going to give this to you, but you need to promise and I mean promise not to tell anyone that I sleep with this still." "I promise." "Alright. Here, I think you could use this tonight." "Teddy. Patrick, what would I do without you? Promise, that we will be friends forever." "Friends forever." Destiny hugged Patrick. "Patrick, can I sleep in your bed." "Sure, just stay on your side. Don't touch me."
The next morning Abby got dressed and woke Patrick up. They had breakfast and she went home to spend some time with her mom before school. A little bit later Patrick came over to walk with her to school. Once at school they separated. Destiny went to play with her friend Tina and Patrick with his friend Pete. The bell rang and all of them went to the classroom. Destiny sat down. There was a boy she didn't like and of course he was seated next to her. "Hey Destiny." "Hi Tim." "I see you came to school with Stumpy." "Leave Patrick alone." "Class take out your English book." The next four hours were spent studying.
After lunch Tina and Destiny were playing with the other girls when she heard some yelling. She turned around. "Oh no." She ran to the boys. "Pete, what happened." "Tim was calling him Stumpy and some stuff about you." Destiny ran in to where Patrick and Tim were fighting. "Stop." "Here comes your girl to save your butt. You need a girl to help you." "Leave Dest." "No, stop fighting." "Yeah, listen to her Stumpy." Just then Patrick hit Tim and the teacher came over. "Mr. Stumph come with me." He followed the teacher while Tim went to the nurse. "Pete, what did Tim say?" "Um, he just said that Patrick liked you more than a friend and just how you don't have a dad." "I better check on him."
Destiny went to the classroom and Patrick was in there alone with his head on the desk. "Patty." Only Destiny could call him that. "Leave me alone." She sat in the desk ahead of him and played with his hair. "Thank you." He looked at her. "For what?" "For fighting Tim for me. Pete told me what he said about me not having a dad." "No one talks about my friend like that." Patrick smiled at Destiny. "Are you in a lot of trouble?" "Kinda. They are calling mom and I have to stay this week and clean the classroom." "I'm sorry." "It's not your fault. He should of kept his mouth shut." "Thank you, Patrick." Destiny hugged Patrick. "You are one of my best friends."

Chapter 2: Where Everything Goes To Hell
"Patrick, do you have the answer for question five?" Destiny asked. "Yeah." She looked at him. "Well..what is it?" "Find it for yourself." Come on, Patty." She jumped on his bed. "Get down, Dest. You are going to kill yourself." "Will you be sad?" "Of course. Get your ass down here." She fell down on the bed. "Patty's swearing. You think your all grown up now that you are thirteen?" "Shut up. I swear you got more annoying since you got your period." "Oh, that's it." She jumped on top of Patrick and straddled him and started tickling him. "Okay, stop. I'm sorry." He was laughing. Destiny looked down at Patrick and seen him for once more than a friend.
She quickly got off of him. "What's wrong?" "Um, nothing." She went back to her bed and started her homework again. "Destiny, are you alright?" "Yeah, I'm fine." She looked at him. He was biting his lip in deep concentration. He looked up. "Okay, what the hell are you doing?" "Nothing." "You are staring at me." "Your cute when you bite your lip." Patrick blushed. "Thanks. I think." There was a knock on the door. Patricia came in. "Destiny, your mom is here." "Already?" "Yeah, she got off early."
Destiny got her books and clothes together. "See you tomorrow, Patrick." "I'll walk you down stairs." They went downstairs. "Hey mom. What's wrong?" Her mom was crying. "Destiny, your dad has been wanting you to spend some time with him. I tried to hold off as long as I could, but he's going to take me to court if you don't go. You leave tomorrow." "What? For how long?" "Six months." "No, please mom. Don't make me go." "I'm sorry." Destiny ran from the Stumps to her room. She went to her bed and cried. She couldn't live with her dad for that long.
A little bit later there was a knock on the door. "Destiny, I know this isn't what you want. I'm sorry. I tried what I could. I feel so bad. You just started school." "It's not your fault, mom. I guess I should pack." Becky kissed Destiny on the cheek and left her room. After Destiny was done packing she got ready for bed. She turned out the lights and looked over to Patrick's bedroom. He was sitting on his bed. She wanted to go to him. She couldn't believe she wouldn't see him for six months. Tears were blurring her vision. She looked up again and his room was dark.
Destiny crawled into bed. A few minutes later she heard something. It was coming from her window. She turned on her lights. "Oh my god." She quickly opened her window. "What are you doing?" "Want to see you before you left." Patrick said crawling into her room. "Destiny, I'm going to miss you." He hugged her. She got butterflies in her stomach. Patrick let go and sat on her bed. "Come here." She sat next to him. "I got something for you. I want you to remember that I'm your best friend. Don't forget about me." "Oh Patrick. I couldn't forget about you." He took out something in his pocket. "Give me your hand." She laid her hand out. "He placed a necklace in it." "Sorry it's not wrapped. I didn't have money for that." "Oh, Patty. I love it." It was a gold heart that said Friends Forever. "I know it's probably more what girls would give each other, but I wanted to get you something. Oh, I almost forgot." Patrick went to the bag he brought. "I thought you could use teddy." "Thank you. I definitely will need him."
She looked up at Patrick. "So I guess this is it. You call or write. Okay." She stood up and was about to give him a hug when Patrick put his lips on hers. Destiny wrapped her arms around him. "Oh god. I'm sorry, Dest. I didn't mean for that to happen." She smiled at Patrick. "I'm glad it did." "Really?" "Yes, I'm glad I had my first kiss with you." "Me too. I should get home before mom finds me gone. See you in February. You take care of yourself." "Bye Patrick." Destiny watched him crawl out of the window. She went to bed and hugged Teddy and cried her self to sleep.
The next morning her mom drove to the airport and Destiny got on the plane for Wisconsin. She watched as Chicago disappeared from her view. A few hours later the plane landed. She got off and seen her dad. "Hi daddy." "Hey Pumpkin. Ready to spend some time with your dad?" "Yeah." "Good. I have someone for you to meet. Here she is. Destiny, this is my girlfriend, Tammy." "Hi, nice to meet you." Destiny said. "Same here. Your dad talks about you all the time." "Let's go and get something to eat." They got Destiny's bag and went to a café and had lunch.
"I like your necklace." Tammy said. "Thanks. My friend Patrick gave it to me before I left." "A boyfriend?" Her dad asked. "No, just a friend. He lives next door." "I see." She noticed her dad got a little strange when Patrick was mentioned. After lunch they drove home and Destiny was shown her room and she unpacked. She went to the living room. "Dad, could I call Patrick and let him know I got here alright?" "I called your mom and she'll tell him." "Oh, okay. You sure." "Yeah, why would I lie?" "You wouldn't. Sorry daddy." She sat down and watched the movie. Tammy left a little bit after supper. "I'm going to go to bed. Are you taking me to school tomorrow?" "Yeah, it's on the way to work." "Okay, goodnight." Destiny started walking to her room. "D, did you forget something?" "Sorry." She walked back and gave her dad a kiss. He slapped her. "Next time don't forget. Get your ass to bed." She ran to her room and sat on the bed.
She knew he didn't change. Why would he have. She went to her suitcase and took out Teddy and a picture of Patrick. She wanted to go back to Chicago. The abuse started when she was little. She remember that first night at Patrick's when he seen the bruises on her back and then when she came back from her dads a few years later and Patrick pushed her. It didn't hurt that Patrick pushed her, but because of the bruises. It was going to be a long six months.
In the morning Destiny got dressed and got her notebooks together. She tiptoed out to the kitchen. "Good morning Destiny. How are you this morning?" "Good. Can we go to school now." "Yeah, you seem excited." "Not really. I won't know anyone there." "It will get better." Destiny's dad drove her to school and walked her to the office. She got a schedule and told her dad goodbye. She walked to her homeroom. "Hi, I'm Destiny Anderson. Today is my first day." "Okay. Nice to meet you. I'm Miss Thompson. You can have a seat over there." Destiny sat down. "Hi, my name is Madison." "Hi, I'm Destiny." The teacher went over the announcements and then the students went to their first class.
After school Destiny walked home. She missed Patrick so much. Her dad was home already. "Hi dad. How was your day?" "Good. What about you?" "Alright. I met a girl. Her name is Madison. Did mom call?" "Yeah, she'll call later." "Okay, I'm going to do my homework." Destiny went to her room and took out her books. She couldn't concentrate, so she decided to write a letter to Patrick.
Patty,
How are you? I'm ok. I miss you. Daddy wouldn't let me call you last night. Maybe soon. How is school? School here is alright. I met a girl. Her name is Madison. I hate it here. I never liked to come to my dads. Now I have six months of this. I want to be in Chicago. How are Pete and Tina? Tell Tina that I'm sorry I didn't say goodbye. Things just got crazy and had to leave so soon.
I've been thinking of the kiss. When I get back would you like to go on a date? I hope so. I better go and get to my homework. Miss you lots.
Love,
Destiny
After she wrote the letter she finished her homework and then went to the kitchen. "Daddy, do you have a stamp?" "Uh, no. But I can mail your letter." "Okay. Here you go." She gave her dad the letter and went back to her room. He looked at the letter and threw it in the trash.
A couple hours later Destiny and her dad ate supper and then Destiny cleaned up. They watched some TV and then Destiny went to bed. Around AM Destiny woke up to her father in her room. "Daddy, what's wrong?" "Nothing sweetheart." He sat on her bed. "This boy Patrick, has he done anything to you?" "He kissed me. Why?" "I was just wondering. What was his kiss like?" "Daddy, I'm tired and don't want to talk about this." Her dad slapped her. "Destiny, you will tell me." "His kiss was nice." She started to cry. "Like this." Her dad bent down and kissed her on her lips. She tried to push away. "What are you doing?" "Destiny, you are a very pretty girl." "No, please daddy."
Her dad removed her sheet and put his hand under her nightgown. "Daddy, what are you doing?" "I will show you how a real man touches a woman." "No, I want to go home." "You are home, sweetie." He rubbed inside her thigh. "Lay down." Destiny didn't know what was happening. Her dad took her underwear off and pushed his fingers inside of her. Destiny looked away and felt the tears falling down her cheeks. Her dad got up and took off his pants. Destiny was feeling sick. "Look at me. I want you to look at me now." She turned her head. "That's better. This is going to hurt a little." He got on top of her and pushed his was in. "Please daddy. You are hurting me." "Stop whining." He was almost finished when Destiny threw up. He finished and put his pants on. "You'll clean that now." He left the room.
Destiny changed her sheets. She put them in the washer right away. She then took a shower. She couldn't scrub the dirt she felt. She leaned all the way down on the shower floor and cried. "Oh Patty. I want to go home." After a hour she got out and got in fresh pajamas. She threw out the old ones. Then she put fresh sheets on her bed and went to sleep holding teddy and crying.

Chapter 3: Rough Times
February came very slowly for Destiny. It was finally time for her to leave Wisconsin. "Come on sweetie. Your plane is going to leave soon." "Alright." She got her suitcase and got into the car. "Are you going to miss me, Destiny?" She didn't say anything. She was looking outside. Her dad slapped her. "Ow. What?" "I said are you going to miss me?" "Of course, daddy." They got to the airport and her dad walked her to the gate. "You take care, Destiny. Tell Patrick all about me." "I hate you." With that Destiny walked to the plane. She couldn't wait to get away from her dad. A few hours later the plane landed.
Her mom was waiting for her. "Mom, where's Patrick?" "Um, he couldn't make it." "Oh, let's go home." She grabbed her suitcase and they went home. Destiny went to her room to unpack. After she was done she laid on her bed. She wanted to see Patrick so bad. Why didn't he come to the airport? She decided to go to his house. She walked out and seen him kissing a girl. She had tears in her eyes. He looked up and seen her. He walked over. "Destiny, I'm so glad to see you." He gave her an awkward hug. "Patrick, who is she?" "Destiny, I want you to meet my girlfriend Susan." "Hi, I just got home. I was in Wisconsin. Well, I have to go. Talk to you later." She walked up the street crying.
She went to the park and sat down on the grass. It was cold, but she didn't care. A little bit later she felt an arm around her. She knew that arm anywhere. "Why Patrick? What happened?" "What happened? I never heard from you. I sent you letters and never got anything back. I didn't think you wanted anything more than a friendship." "What? I sent you letters every week and I never got your letters. My dad wouldn't let me call. Oh my god." "What is it?" "My dad. He must of threw the letters away." "How was it?" "Awful. Oh, Patty. I missed you." She went into his arms. "Something happened there." "What?" "I can't tell you." "Yes, you can. When have we kept secrets." "Never, but this is just awful." "Dest, please tell me." She was sobbing. "My dad, the second night, he," She couldn't go on. She got up and ran home.
Patrick just sat there. There was something different about her. He went and followed her. He knocked on the door. "Hi, Becky. Can I talk to Destiny?" "Patrick, she doesn't feel good." "Oh, well tell her I hope she feels better and I'll see her tomorrow." "I will Hun." He walked home and went to his bedroom to finish his homework. He looked over and seen Destiny in her room. She was sitting on her bed. He wanted to make her happy. His phone rang. "Hello? Oh, hi Susan. Yeah, I'll walk you to school tomorrow. Can Destiny come? Okay. She will be happy. Talk to you tomorrow." Patrick sat down at his desk. He really didn't like Susan as a girlfriend. He decided that he was going to break up with her tomorrow.
In the morning Destiny could barely get out of bed. She got up and took a shower and got dressed. She went downstairs and grabbed some breakfast. "Patrick came here last night." "Did you tell him that I wasn't feeling well?" "Yes, is something wrong?" "No, I just was tired." "Okay." There was a knock on the door. "Hi Patrick." "Hey Destiny. Are you ready?" "Yeah. Let me get my things. Mom, I'm going to go." "Alright. Have a good day. I'm back on nights, so if you want to stay at Patrick's you can." "Okay. See you later."
Destiny and Patrick walked down the street. "Um, we have to get Susan." "Oh, alright." "I'm breaking up with her today." "Don't break up with her because of me." "I'm not. I don't like her as a girlfriend. She is so fake. She's nice and all, but not for me." "Alright." "Destiny, what happened last night?" "Nothing. I don't want to talk about it." "Will you come to me when you feel like it?" "Of course." They picked up Susan and went to school.
Destiny met up with Tina. "Oh Dest. I missed you so much. How are you?" "Good now I'm back here. How are you?" "Good. How was Wisconsin?" "Terrible, but I don't want to get into it." "How dare you, Stumph. You led me on until your little tramp came home." Tina and Destiny turned around to screaming Susan. "Be quiet, Susan." "No, you did this on purpose. I hate you, Patrick. I hope you and your slut will be happy." She slapped him and walked away. Destiny walked to him. "I'm sorry, Patty." She hugged Patrick. "Thanks. I've missed your hugs. I'm sorry you had to hear that." "No worries. I take it from the source." He smiled. "What's your first class?" "Ah, English Lit." "I have that. Come on." They walked to class. Maybe things weren't going to be bad anymore.
~Two Years Later~
Destiny was back from her dads for a month now and didn't want to leave her bedroom. She still didn't tell anyone. No one knew her pain. There was a knock on the door. Her mom was at work so she knew she had to get it. She opened the door. "Destiny, I've had enough. You are going to tell me what the fuck is wrong?" Patrick sat down on the couch. "Leave. I don't want to tell you or anyone else. "I'm your best friend. Why won't you tell me? What have I done that you don't trust me?" "Nothing." She started crying. "Come here." She sat on the couch and Patrick put his arms around her.
"Okay, I'll tell you. But promise me you won't tell anyone." "I won't." "As far as I can remember my dad would beat me. A slap here or there. Then it got worse. My mom never knew. When I went there for those six months I knew it was going to be hell, but I never expected it to be a pure hell. The second night," She looked into Patrick's eyes. "The second night he raped me. Then again and again. He continued. Every time I visit, he comes to my room. I wash myself, but I can't get rid of the dirt. I don't know what to do." "Oh my god. Destiny, why didn't you come to me? I would of helped you." "I'm ashamed. I feel so dirty." "Don't. He's the one that should feel ashamed. God. What a pig. We need you to get help." "No, I told you I don't want anyone to know." "Why? Don't you want him stopped? You need the help." "Patrick, just leave." "Hun," "No." She went to the door and opened it. He took her face in his hands. "I'm going to make this right." He walked out.
Destiny shut the door and went to her bedroom. She fell asleep. Around 1AM the phone rang. "Hello?" "Destiny, it's Patricia. Is Patrick there?" "No, he left some time ago. Let me call Pete and see if he's there." "Alright." Destiny hung up and called Pete. There was no answer. She decided to call Tina. Tina and Pete were getting closer, so she knew Tina would know where Pete was. "Tina, do you know where Pete is? I'm looking for Patrick." "Um, no. Not really." "You do. Tell me." "They promised me not to tell you." "Tina, please. Patrick's mom is worried." "Alright. But don't tell them where you heard it." "Where are they?" "Patrick wanted to go to Wisconsin, so Pete and him took the bus there." "What?" Destiny didn't know if she heard Tina right. "Are you sure?" "Yes." "Thanks." Destiny got dressed and took some money she had saved.
She then left a note for her mom and ran next door. "Did you find out anything?" "Patricia, I need to tell you something." "Come in." Destiny quickly told Patricia everything that happened with her dad and where Patrick went. "I have some money. I thought we could take the plane. I'm worried about him and Pete." "Okay, let me call your mom." Patricia called Destiny's mom and told Kevin she was going to be gone. The left for the airport and were able to get on a plane right away. Destiny was so worried. Her dad had guns in his house. She was so mad at Patrick. What was he thinking?
The plane landed a few hours later and they got a car and drove to Destiny's dads. The door was slightly opened. Destiny noticed Patrick laying on the floor. "Oh god no." She ran to him. Patricia kneeled down. "He's breathing. I'm going to call 911." "Patty, please wake up." She then noticed the blood. So much blood. She cradled his head in her lap. "Dest, I took care of it. You are going to be alright." "What? What did you take care of?" "You dad. He's gone." She then looked and noticed her dad on the floor. "Patrick, did you kill him?" "Yeah, but he came after me with a gun. It was the only way. I'm sorry. I just wanted to talk to him." "Rest, Patty. I'm going to try and find Pete." Patricia came over to her son while Destiny looked through the house.
"Pete, Pete, where are you?" She looked in her bedroom. He was in there. "Pete!" She ran to him. "Are you alright?" His eyes opened. "Oh my god, are you alright?" "Not really. How's Patrick?" "Breathing. What were you two thinking?" "He wanted to protect you." Just then the paramedics came and took Pete and Patrick to the hospital. Destiny's dad was taken as well, but he would be going to the morgue. The police asked Destiny and Patricia questions when they got to the hospital. Then they talked to Pete and Patrick. "Patricia, do you think they will arrest Patrick or Pete?" "I don't know sweetie." "This is all my fault." "No, it isn't. Patrick shouldn't of gone off like he did."
The officers came out and talked to Patricia. A few minutes later she came back. "Everything is going to be fine. They said that with it being self defense they won't charge them. But they wanted our numbers in case something comes up." "Good. I don't want them in trouble for this." The doctor came out and talked to Pat and Destiny. "Both the boys will be alright. I want them to spend the night here. They should be good to go tomorrow morning. You can see them if you like." "Go ahead Destiny. Patrick, doesn't need me yelling at him right now." Destiny went to see Patrick.
"Hey, Patty." "Destiny, how are you?" "Mad at you. What were you thinking?" "I want to protect you. Come here." She sat on the bed. "What happened." "Pete and I went to your dads. I just wanted to talk to him. Tell him to stay away from you. He said some stuff and I told him not to talk to about you like that. That's when he started beating the crap out of both Pete and I. You could of told me your dad is huge." "You shouldn't of came here." "Anyway, your dad knocked out Pete. And that's when he brought out the gun. I didn't know what to do. He pointed the gun right at me. I was so scared, Dest. All I could think about was you and what that man did to you. It must of gave me the power because I somehow grabbed the gun, but it went off. I thought I was shot, but then I looked up and realized your dad was the one that got shot." He fell down and at that moment I started getting light headed and passed out. Next thing I remember is you holding me." Patrick smiled at Destiny.
"Your mom is pretty pissed at you." "Yeah, I'll probably be grounded for the rest of my life." "You should be. If you weren't in this hospital bed I'd hit you." "Thanks." "Patty, I could of lost you. Don't you understand." She went to his arms and started crying. "Oh baby. It's alright. Shhh." "Patrick Martin Stumph, I want to talk to you." Patricia came in. "I'll leave. Take care, Patrick." She smiled at him.
