I was in synagogue last night infating balloons for the women's megillah reading. I was already in costume: short denim skirt, black tights, leg warmers, two different colored Chucks, long neon shirt underneath with long shirt on top both pulled at the corner through a round plastic piece meant for clipping t-shirts, plastic bead necklace and matching bracelet, side ponytail, blue eyeshadow with some sparkle, blazer with the sleeves rolled up, dangling earrings, big button from the 80s. A friend's tweenage daughter walks into the room, greets me, and says "so what are you going to dress up like tonight?"
*facepalm*
I read megillah for the first time, having mercifully been given Chapter 10 (3 sentences/5 lines) and I completely rocked that bisnatch. I made it through two-thirds of the fast, too.
Today we're having the festive Purim meal with the Chabad people. That should be fun. I think I'll have to suit up again and get my 80s on.
Our Purim package was pretty groovy, too. We have the usual: apple, hamantaschen, kiwi, popcorn, chips. All of this was placed into large bowls along with my favorite part of the whole thing - two shot-sized bottles of tequila, a lime, and a packet of salt. I hope someone appreciates it.
