last night's dreams

i'll start with the last one first.

i was the nanny for a very, very tall (7 or 8 feet) woman who had a baby. (we all know how i feel about babies, but in the dream i didn't mind.) she and a man whose identity and purpose now escape me were going on a very long car trip in order to reach a ceremony that her husband (the king of the dwarves) was leading. the baby and i sat in the back of the car. the baby (this is gross) was in a car seat that was also a port-a-potty. whenever the baby had to go, it just 'went', and the baby excrement just fell down into a separate container. we were not allowed to empty it until we reached the ceremony. upon reaching the ceremony (which was for something else), the very tall woman stepped out into the aisle (the ceremony was being held somewhere that looked astonishingly like the cathedral in nashville where my family went to church when i was a child) and called out to her husband (who looked astonishingly like john rhys davies. john rhys davies, though, not gimli.) the husband replied something to the effect of 'what is it, woman?' she then walked to the altar (i followed, carrying a huge cross with red jewels on it) and presented the baby in the car seat. the husband smiled with pride and commenced the ceremonial emptying of the carrier, while the congregation chanted something in an ancient language that i did not understand.

before that...

i discovered that my mom had bought 2 "houses" from home depot. (i posted about these in babykoala a while back, basically, they are shells of buildings that look like real houses. they are meant for storage, but are super cheap, and i wondered when i posted about them before if they could be brought up to code as real housing.) she had had them built in secret down by the river. one of them was for papaw (my mom's dad, who in real life died when i was a senior in high school) and the other was for me, i think. then the dream morphed and the main part of the farm (around mom's house) suddenly looked astonishingly like the buildings at work, only she was running it as an inn, i think. but then there was a group of disturbed children who came, and the operation became a sort of orphanage/treatment center. then, the inn/orphanage was attacked (maybe by outsiders, maybe by kids who went bad, i can't remember for sure) and the kids and i banded together to defend our homestead.
