Character: Noki
Fandom: DOGS: Bullets & Carnage
Personality: On the surface, if one isn't paying too much attention, Noki seems like a mostly normal little girl (aside from her odd coloring, of course). She's cheerful, energetic, and playful. She enjoys her favorite kinds of food with great enthusiasm and will converse with strangers in a very ordinary and seemingly innocent way for a girl of her age. She is extremely close to her twin sister Luki, and the two wear similar outfits - the style is identical, with the color scheme reversed. Noki is curious and will conveniently forget about rules for the sake of going out and having fun. She likes to draw, explore, and have fun.
If one is paying closer attention, however, it becomes quickly apparent that Noki is a seriously disturbed child. Noki is extremely violent. She considers bounty hunting a game of tag wherein she is 'it' and is disappointed if her target isn't interesting enough. Her idea of 'fun' involves fighting with an opponent who can keep up with her. Noki also has very little in the way of self-preservation instincts. She enjoys danger to the point that she could be considered an adrenaline junkie. Noki doesn't generally take it personally if someone seriously harms her either, and if they've put up an interesting enough fight, she'll even thank the person for playing with her. In fact, due to her regenerative abilities, she is more likely to be upset about damage to her clothing or her weapon than damage to her body.
Noki's sister Luki is a big part of Noki's sense of identity. Noki doesn't think of herself as an individual - she thinks of herself as one half of a matched pair. Of course, being referred to as 'the twins' by the adults around her, and never being encouraged to be anything other than one of the "Invincible Luki Noki twins" will do that. Without her sister, Noki has very little sense of her own identity. Although Noki refers to a few select others as older siblings and to Angelika Einsturzen as her "mother", Luki is the only person whose loss would be truly devastating for her. Luki is the only one who is actually biologically related to her, and Noki has been by her side for as long as she can remember. Noki may be quite capable of taking care of herself in terms of survival, but she's dependent on her sister in less obvious ways.
Noki’s personality is quite similar to her sister's, but there are a few notable differences. Noki isn’t quite as aggressive or outgoing as Luki is. She has more regard for rules and authority figures than Luki (although that’s not saying much). Noki is somewhat more likely to think things through and be reasonable, but she’s also quick to go along with Luki’s whims with no more objections beyond “but we might get in trouble”.
Although Noki’s personality is currently rather psychopathic and monstrous, she still has the potential to develop empathy and some form of moral compass. It would take an immense amount of counselling, love, and tolerance from an adult who was strong enough to earn her respect to accomplish it, but it is currently possible. Noki is the product of an environment that includes violence, genetic splicing, and no lessons in how to determine right from wrong. Of course, with the wrong influences, Noki could easily become even more of a vicious little psycho than she is now. She is mouldable - it all depends on who she latches onto as a role model.
History: Noki comes from a violent crime-ridden world where the police are largely ineffective at enforcing the law (the army tends to be much more effective), gangs run wild, and where nobody is even surprised at seeing two little girls running around without any adult supervision. There are frequent disappearances that are more likely to be investigated by private investigators than by the local authorities. There is also a place referred to only as the 'Underground' where some of the most dangerous lurk. Noki comes from the Underground - a young subject of genetic experimentation along with her twin sister.
Very little canon information is available regarding the twins since they are minor canon characters, but some of their past can be inferred based on the past history of their older “brothers”, Heine and Giovanni. Heine and Giovanni are both test tube babies that were genetically engineered to be living weapons. They, along with many other experiments, woke up one day with a Kerberos spine implanted into their necks. Almost immediately afterward, they were greeted by Angelika Einsturzen, their mother and self-proclaimed physician, and began their cruel training regiment of fighting genetically engineered monsters referred to as the “old models”. As Noki and Luki possess Kerberos spines as well, it’s likely they underwent a similar training program. Angelika Einsturzen is shown encouraging Heine and Giovanni to fight, and she is utterly intolerant of any hesitation on the part of her creations. The twins almost certainly learned that violence toward a target earns Mama’s love. It seems likely that they made a game out of their training program as a coping mechanism and learned to work well together.
At some point, Noki and Luki were exposed to “above ground”, and ventured out on their own numerous times without permission. They also quickly realized that they could make money of their own and achieve some sort of measure of semi-independence by bounty hunting. During one such excursion, they encountered their "big brother", Haine, and a swordswoman named Naoto whom they were quick to start referring to as "big sis". In spite of the injuries they received by the end of the fight, when Noki and her sister received a message to return, they ran off. They were more distressed about the damage to their clothes than the damage to their bodies, concerned that they were going to get yelled at.
Afterwards, Noki and Luki spent some time under the supervision of Campanella Freuling. She proved capable of keeping the girls in check until they could be returned to the Underground. Noki and Luki teased their big brother Giovanni about getting yelled at when he was being sent above ground for a mission, and he told them to not compare him to themselves. They were returned to their "mother" shortly afterwards. After the trouble they had caused and their mother's plan coming to fruition, Noki hid in a library with Luki, deciding that "mama was being scary".
After an explosion that rocked a large part of the above ground slums and damaged part of the train tunnel leading from the Underground to above ground, the twins are shown investigating the debris with Freuling. They encounter Heine, Naoto and Magato and charge in to “play” with Heine. The fighting is quickly interrupted by members of the army who identify themselves as the special mobile ground defense force. Freuling takes her leave and the special ops members express interest in Heine and Naoto. The twins are left behind, mildly confused about what just happened there.
Timeline: End of chapter 62
Abilities: Noki possesses a Kerberos spine, which grants her high speed spontaneous regenerative abilities. She is nearly invulnerable, as long as her brain is not destroyed and she is not decapitated. She can sustain injuries that would be be fatal or that would permanently cripple anyone else. Additionally, she is also enhanced in terms of strength, speed, and agility. She’s not going to bench-press a car anytime soon, but she is still well above human levels.
(Her abilities will be toned down to the same level as Luki’s, with Noki tiring if she overextends herself. She will not be able to come endlessly at an opponent, but she still will have her powers)
Inventory: Noki’s inventory will include her enormous gun, the clothes she’s wearing, and a bunny shaped cell phone with her name on it that won’t be of any use.

Noki wandered around, looking bewildered. How had she gotten to a place like this? More importantly, where was Luki? She couldn’t remember the last time she’d been separated from her twin for more than an hour, and yet, here she was. It felt like much longer than that, but the sun’s position in the sky hadn’t changed much. At least it hadn’t been a whole day. Noki couldn’t imagine a full day without her sister. It was hard even imagining a full day without Miss Fuu. She’d dealt with full days without Big Brother Giovanni even if she preferred having him around. Sometimes a full day without Mama could be a good thing, so she couldn’t be too upset at not having Mama around. Especially not when she was lost. Although Noki was already feeling lonely. She had been one for planning far ahead in the future, but she could say one thing with certainty: she didn’t want to be alone.
“This sucks,” she whined, slumping against a tree. She was lost, Luki was nowhere to be found, and her cell phone wasn’t working. She was hungry, too. “This isn’t a fun game at all!”
The sound of footsteps snapping twigs got Noki’s attention and she crouched down to see who or what was approaching. Mismatched eyes widened when she saw the being approach, although the expression was less out of fear and more out of surprise and even a little bit of pity. She was fairly sure it was male, but it looked like someone had attempted genetic splicing via randomly attaching random bits of animals to a person. He had hooves in lieu of feet, a cross between paws and hands, he had long hair, and large horns. There was a snout in lieu of a nose, his teeth were long and sharp, and his eyes were mismatched in a way that Noki’s couldn’t even compare to.
When he reached for some berries in the bush Noki was hiding in, he noticed her. Tilting his head curiously, the strange man-beast regarded the girl for a full minute before picking a few more berries and handing them out to her in offering.
“For me? Thanks, mister,” replied Noki, popping one of the berries into her mouth. “These are pretty good.”

[The side of a young girl’s face is shown on the screen. It seems like she’s not aware that she’s turned the video function on and is trying to use her communicator like it’s a phone.]
Lukiiiiiiiiii! Where are you? This isn’t a good time to play hide and go seek. Miss Fuu will get mad at us if we’re late and then she’ll tell Mama! You don’t want to get in trouble with Mama, do you?
[There’s the sound of her fiddling with buttons on the communicator when she remembers being told that other people have one and she can access a whole network. She also seems to realize that the camera is on now.]
Ah, hey. My name is Noki. Luki looks just like Noki, except she’s not quite as strong. Has anyone seen her?
