Really Giant Doctor Who Fic Rec Post

Aug 15, 2008 05:25

I've been keeping a giant list of fics I liked, for the purposes of a) sharing the love, b) rereading them all in a few months when I've had time to forget them, and c) having somewhere besides timenchips_ot to turn to if I can't remember what that one story with the graffiti and the witty summary of the Doctor's eighth life was. I started adding to this list ( Read more... )

fanfiction (not by me), who fic (not by me), doctor who

I am totally checking out some of these fics when I have a bit more time, but for now- sharing of glee.

I adore rosa_acicularis. She's fantastic, and all her fics are amazing. And Downtime by cryptile is my favorite "Christmas Invasion" fic. Ulysses is gorgeous, and both Twenty Lies told to Rose Tyler and First Hand Knowledge were quite fun reads :D

If I can rec back? orange_crushed has some terrific fic. The quiet life by marylane23 (http://community.livejournal.com/time_and_chips/1958680.html) is my absolute favorite Slow-path fic (Ten/Rose), and Worlds in conjunction by dark_aegis (http://community.livejournal.com/time_and_chips/2713839.html) is quite possibly my favorite Who fic ever. It's like a Moffat episode, except in fic. (Ten, Rose, Martha). I have more but those are the ones I have immediate access too. (Oh! and "A Heartwarming Story in Which The Doctor and Romana Make a Baby" is a must-read. It's on teaspoon.)

And I'm sending you an email

rosa_acicularis is on my list of people I want to be when I grow up, right along side the Doctor and the guy that made infinite view distance possible in Morrowind. (This is a list I intend to keep adding to, even when I'm fifty.)

You can definitely rec back. I have no idea how I overlooked orange_crushed. At some later point, I ought to add both some of her stuff and Worlds in Conjunction to this list. (You're right, it's good. I read it once a really long time ago, and now that you've reminded me, I'm off to read it again.)

I just read The Quiet Life and it was amazing. I'm not even a big fan of slow path fic in general, but that was really well done.

A Heartwarming Story in Which The Doctor and Romana Make a Baby sounds familiar, which could just as easily be because I've read it or because I've seen it, thought "nice title", and then moved on. I'll go look for it at some point in the near(ish) future.

Your link's busted, but it's cool, I can find it on Teaspoon.

And I like your reasoning in your email.

Also! Do you know of any fun Donna comms? Because I really need to join a few of those *is quickly becoming obsessed- this is going to turn into a Cloney ten and Donna story if she's not careful*

Yup, that link worked. It was quite funny. Romana has all the maternal instincts of, say, me.

So on the one hand, I want to think up some advice to offer you to fix that, like "it could be a Rose/Cloney & Donna story, with the three of them being all adventury and them both helping him work out who he is," or maybe just, "save the good stuff for some other story that Rose is less important to."

On the other hand, I want Donna to take over your story. Yay Donna!

I don't really know her comms. I've seen some, but I don't remember their names, activity levels, or if they were "fun." Sorry. I think there was a fixit comm called season4b that looked promising? Lemme know if you find any good ones.

I have decided that it isn't a CloneyTen/Donna story (tough I want to write one), and nor is it really a CloneyTen/Rose story, though there are mentions of such a thing. It's a CloneyTen story. Donna and Rose are great, but it's not about them, it's about him. *nods*

And I need a Donna icon. *adds this to list of things to do*

Fair enough. That makes sense with what I've read so far.

Donna icons are great.
