Yep, this is me, pretending that I don't have to go back to real life in the morning and decidedly not doing any of the various things I need to have done by tomorrow...

Also, this (*gestures at ficlet*) is strange. Even for me.

Bits and pieces.

He’s no longer a whole, no longer himself, and the fuzzy-softness of this place seeps into him with a rapidity which would be frightening if he knew it was happening.

He doesn’t remember.

There was- He thinks there was a boy. A boy (whose name makes him smile on the days he can remember it) who was cheerful and welcoming and warm always. And he knows (even when he knows nothing else) that he stole from that boy. Stole time and life as a parasite would nutrients from its host.

He looks around him (without his eyes, because he no longer has a body. Hasn’t had one for a long time). Looks out into the white, nothingness of this place and it occurs to him occasionally and fleetingly that this is the afterlife. This is where he belongs now.

He’s happy here.

Or he should be. He knows he should be.

But he’s missing bits and pieces of himself and he needs them back before he can be whole and happy and real again.

Yuugi. He needs Yuugi back.

He knows that. Knows it until the knowledge is pulled from him by the peace in this place and he’s lulled back into sleepy-sated contentedness.

Lulled back to sleep.

This place is perfection and perfect and here he gives up all guilt and all love and all emotion and all ties to the real world so he can have- what?

Silence?

Too peaceful and too alone and he misses having another within and beside him. This isn’t what he wanted.

Bits and pieces gone and he doesn’t know who he is anymore. But he clings to the sight of the eyes of a boy he no longer knows and waits to be pulled back into life once again.
