From time to time and compile what I have learned in the previous days and I usually come to 3 conclusions: I do not spend enough time doing homework, theocracies are bad, and finally on a simular note, are country is headed in the wrong direction. Today I will talk about the 3rd conclusion which is recently been edging closer and closer to the 2nd conclusion:
The Bush regime seems to be digging deep holes(We are in each of the holes). ______________(Place your favorite Bush regime screw up). Congress appears worthless. Their actions remind me of a Bible passage:
Matthew 6:1-13 "Take heed that you do not do your charitable
deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no
reward from your Father in heaven. {2} "Therefore, when you do
a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the
hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they
may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have
their reward. {3} "But when you do a charitable deed, do not
let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, {4}
"that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father
who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly. {5} "And
when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they
love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of
the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to
you, they have their reward. {6} "But you, when you pray, go
into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your
Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in
secret will reward you openly. {7} "And when you pray, do not
use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that
they will be heard for their many words. {8} "Therefore do not
be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of
before you ask Him. {9} "In this manner, therefore, pray: Our
Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. {10} Your kingdom
come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. {11} Give
us this day our daily bread. {12} And forgive us our debts, As
we forgive our debtors. {13} And do not lead us into
temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the
kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
A perfect example of this is the bill that they are currently trying to pass. It would make it illegal to help illegal aliens with such things as crossing the border etc. On the surface they are 2 reactions to this: 'hell ya, we have to stop helping mexicans steal our public services' or the view of the half a million protestors in LA 'no, that is mean, it should never be a crime to give humanitarian aid'. Both points have some validity, but if you stop and think about it for just a tad longer you might realize that it is already illegal to aid in a 'criminal' action, so the bill is bullshit anyways. And apparently like half of them are corrupt, but we may never know for sure so whatever.
So here I am, every few days, thinking about how these 2 braches are retarded. But today I thought of something new. I was watching Chief Justice Roberts on C-SPAN 2 this lovely morning when it dawned on me that Congress and the Bush regime don't make up the entire federal government and maybe I shouldn't lose hope just yet. There is a 3rd branch, and our founding fathers put in place a systems of check and balances that apparently prevent total government downfall unless all 3 branches are immoral failures; And I think we might still have a brach with some green leaves (not the most concrete metaphor ever). To cut to the chase, I have faith in John Roberts, and his fellow Justices. I have faith that he will keep the other braches in check. My 'Bill of Rights' teacher always reminds my class: Pay attention to these nominations, these are life terms, these people will still be around changing your lives when your children are 16. I, personally, am glad. If you are one of those people who think that Roberts and the rest are terrible, then I am honestly sorry, and I would not blame you if you moved to New Zealand, I hear its nice there. But I think that John Roberts is one of the most intelligent people I have ever heard speak and I have faith in him and him alone to lead our country through the times ahead.
