Bridges, Poker, Booze and Soccer

So yesterday Chris kicked me out so he could study and I found my way down to Circular Quay. This is where the Opera House is along with the Harbor Bridge, and The Rocks. Once down there it was raining of course so I waited around until it let up and climbed across the bridge to get a better view of the Opera House.

It looked a lot more yellow than I would have expected. Hopefully soon I will be able to get a more up close look at it, but for right now my best view was from that bridge.

It was still raining of course and by the time I got to the other side I was drenched and hungry. I got some fish and chips, took a break and worked my way back to the Quay. Looked through the shops and did all that touristy stuff.

Then I walked a good couple miles back to St. Johns. Partially because I wasn't sure which bus to catch. Mainly because I wasn't sure which bus to catch, but an hour or so later I found myself near St. Johns.

That's when I saw a sign for a free poker tournament. "Free Poker Tournament Thursday" Now at this point I was so lost for which day it was that I had a hunch it was Thursday, but I had to ask around just to make sure.

So at 8:30PM I rolled into the bar and signed up for poker.

Three hours later I was at the final table.

Overall I didn't think I played that well, but it was well enough to give me a good stack of chips. Slowly as the blinds went up my stacks kept growing, and then it was just me against one other guy.

Going into the last few hands I thought I had him.

I had Q 6. Since it was just the two of us I called on my Q and saw the flop. Q Q 10. I flopped trip Queens. I slow played it, trying to get a good chunk of his chips. Then a 4 came down. I slow played it again, betting another one of my four stacks. He called. Then the river. K. I went all in and he called. I was left with 4 chips and we showed our cards. He got a straight on the river.

I gained a few chips back but ultimately lost. I won a bottle of Chivas Regal Premium Scotch Whiskey. Aged 12 Years.

Not a bad way of losing.

Then soccer came around. Australia is a stupid country in that they only have like 2 television channels and so they could only show one game. I guess Italy vs. Czech Republic is more important than US vs Ghana. Stupid Aussies. Well we lost so it doesn't matter.

I could have gone on a pub crawl from St. Johns back down to Circular Quay, watching all the games along the way. The Australia game didn't start until 5AM and I wasn't feeling that. So I crashed instead.

That was my day yesterday.

Today I ran. And watched a couple of Chris' friends leave. He is done now, so we will be able to adventure more now.

That is all for now.
