The day before I left my dad came up to visit. He stayed the night and the next morning my mom, Paul, and my brother all left for a Mariners game while my dad stayed at the house to help me get ready. I slowly started packing and pretty soon it was time to go.
We left fairly early so we would have enough time to get a bite to eat. On our drive to the airport we stopped off at the last exit and followed a sign to a sports bar. It was a sunday with World Cup games in full swing, game 6 of the NBA Finals, the last day of the U.S. Open, and this sports bar was closed. So we went to Burger King instead.
I bought my dad his meal since I still hadn't done anything for him for Father's Day, and we sat and enjoyed our crappy chicken sandwiches with fries. As we were waiting in line though, I noticed they had this really crappy Star Wars watch for $1.99. I had no clue what it looked like, but my dad bought it for me as a going away present since I needed a way of telling time. It is strange, but for the last 4 years or so I have used my cell phone as my watch and so now I feel a little naked not having it on me.
So now I am here in Australia, with a $2 watch that I hope lasts half of my trip. My first day here I went to the beach and took some pictures of the coast line and a sunset behind a cemetary. Yesterday I couldn't get myself to do anything. I blame it on jet lag and the fact that it was downpouring about every hour.
In case you are wondering, mine is the third one in from the left. It isn't two watches. The band of the watch flips so I can have either Jabba the Hutt or Princess Leia showing, depending on my mood. Jabba is my favorite so far.
