Finding Comfort

Nov 11, 2007 08:58

This morning I went to Mass with Ilmari. I was raised Catholic as a child, (oh, yes, I'm a typical Frenchman) but I haven't been to church since the Kaibas' wedding. Before that... Well, I didn't see the need. The one thing I didn't appreciate as a kid is how all the masses all around the world are all the same. It's the same three readings - Old ( Read more... )

*smiles* Thank you for coming with me today Raphael. I felt a bit uncomfortable because I do not know German well, but it was still enjoyable to be here in a nice Catholic church again. I haven't been to go to any type of church in a while, since I've been traveling to many countries that do not know of Christ.

So, you're a missionary as well as a photographer?

*blinks, suprised* What? No, not at all. *looks ashamed* The thought of using my occupation as a way to teach others of Christ never occured to me. Besides... I'm probably not the best person to be representing Him and sharing His Word to others.

Oh, well, you said that you liked to visit countries where they never have heard of Christ. So, I just thought... ^_^; Sorry.

Who can say they are the best person to represent Him?

I didn't say that- exactly. I go to different countries with Dr. Denavue foir the reason of exploring new places and photographing them, and many of the places Dr. Denavue goes to are exotic and cut off from the western world- by either another prominant religion, or just by nature.

Umm... Well, no one can truly judge a person as not being a beliver because that would be hypocritcal for them to lash out at soeonem and call them a liar when they claim to be Chrstian themselves. But if you or I were say to others that we are not the best examples of a Christian, wouldn't that personal judgement be a result of how close you feel, and really are, to God?

I feel that only an arrogant person feels that they are the best of anything. God is the only Perfection that exists, and we are so lowly by comparison. An angel represents Him better than any human being ever could. "When Perfection comes, the imperfect disappears." 1 Corinthians 13

But I can see your point. If you were to talk to a nonbeliever, and then you say that you can't represent Him, they wonder if you even know what you're talking about.

And that's exactly why I'm not a missionary. I see myself as more of an imperfection compared to others, and I do not wish to represent a god that is so pure, in the face of those who do not believe.
