Pushing Daisies Probably Canceled

Pushing Daisies is all but canceled.  ABC ordered only thirteen episodes to start the season, and has not extended that order.  Too bad.

Granted, when the show finally came back from the writer's strike this October, it came back initially unsteady and unappealing, in my opinion.  This entire construction of Lily really being Chuck's mother is unnecessarily soap-opera-like and foolishly undermines certain character elements introduced in the first season.  That arc irritated me.  And they abruptly dropped almost all the plot threads from last season, like the gentleman who lived underground and could smell that Chuck should be dead.  But in recent episodes, they've stopped limping, and started playing again.  I hope that continues for at least the rest of the little thirteen-episode run.

It's done badly in the ratings against Bones, but Bones hasn't really pleased me since the first season ended.  I was pleased to ditch it in favor of Pushing Daisies . . . Maybe that was ABC's mistake: holding it so long, until after the audience had committed elsewhere.
