These Times We Live In

That gas prices are higher than they used to be, we all know.  But it really hit me this evening, when I needed gas to get home -- pointer on "E" -- and the station near my work was suffering a system problem and could accept only cash.  I luckily found $13 in my wallet; I don't usually carry much cash, and of course the nearest ATM would have charged a fee.  But $13 in cash bought me under three gallons of gas.  I would have noticed much less if I could have used a card.  Parting with $1 bills brought it home in a whole different way.  Which is stranger, the prices, or the end of cash?
