So this weekend's big adventure was gaming by candle light.
We had a couple of friends over tonight for board/card/video games. (Well, we actually invited a bunch of people, but only a couple actually showed up. sniff) Oh, and food. At Chez Echo/SB, there's always food with games.
So the banana bread had just come out of the oven and the roast was merrily chortling along and we had cranked up the Wii, when Bang!. Literally, a starling "bang" sound and then no lights. Also no Wii, no network, no ovens...
As near as we can tell, a local transformer failed catastrophically. Woo.
Fortunately... Gas grill! Roast was saved. (Yummm)
So as the sun set, we set up RuneBound in the dining room and brought out all our candles. Fantasy board gaming by candle light. How much more retro can it get? ;-)
The power came back after maybe 3 hours, which was a bit of a surprise in itself. Long enough to burn the candles almost all the way down, anyway. The game didn't last much longer, b/c we were all tired by that point. But it was nice to be able to actually read the rules at that point, anyway, and discover all the bits that we'd been glossing over. ;-)
