God, Matlab is such an abysmally, dreadfully ugly language. Why must it be so useful? It's such a tragedy. You just can't bloody get away from it. Bah. Writing this code makes me want to claw out my own eyes. No, check that, it makes me want to claw out the designers' eyes...
