The Preserve: Monday Morning

"Now, Blue Jay," Giselle scolded as she traipsed through the forest, ducking under a tree branch in her way.  "Do be kinder to the Turtledoves next time, please.  It quite startles them when you get so upset and then they worry all day.  Perhaps if we all sang together, you'd get to know them better and it would be easier?"

The blue jay (who looked quite unmoved by this plea) was saved from making a reply by Giselle's exclamation of surprise.  "Oh my!" she stared up the hill at the castle that she quite swore hadn't been there last time she'd come this way.  "It's the castle that's a school!  Oh, after all this time, I finally found it again!"  She spun around, beaming at the blue jay and the two little rabbits who'd come up to see the commotion.  "Look, everyone!  We found that castle I was telling you about!  I thought for sure it had fallen down a well."

Breaking into song, she started skipping forward across the grounds.  It was so very exciting.  Perhaps those sweet little friends Pain and Panic were still around!  Or that nice boy Toby who talked about friends all the time.  As much as Giselle had liked being lost living in the forest with her friends, the idea of a hot bath again did sound lovely.
