So, as promised I'm also adding my very first book review. This will count for August, which means I will be scouring the library tomorrow (or sometime this weekend) for Septembers choice. I'm also adding in a video (just for fun, and because you sounded sad on the phone).
Title: Prince of Fire
Author: Linda Winstead Jones
Price: $7.99 (@ Hastings)
This book is supposed to be a part of a series, and I suppose that the main story line is an impending evil that has been discussed further back in the series. Possibly the beginning, but lets be honest, I've only read this one. (Maybe next time I wont be dumb and choose a book from a series.) Anyway despite the relatively unclear evil background this book starts off fairly promising (probably due to the idea that I didn't yet know it was in a series).
A queen was kidnapped by some guy who thought she was casting evil spells and wanted her to stop, and maybe reverse those evil spells. She obviously wasn't casting spells, but who listens to the honest queen anyway? Nobody, especially when she can apparently read your mind (even if you have a special ward to protect against that) and sends you seductive dreams. Lots of them. The fact that she stays naked most of the time means nothing at all. Eventually the evil spell casting gets sorted out (sort of?) and they begin their quest for truth! But get side tracked by evil biting creatures. And then, sex! Lots of sex. Almost like, let's see how much sex we can have before the queen kills the guy at the next full moon. (Oh, and they're were-animals too. Sorry.) But, no! That can't be right, they're mates! I promise!
Some how, something gets resolved, but the story didn't' really end, because this wasn't the last book in the series. Some closure, but not really any at all.
There were many fantastically bad lines all throughout the book including:
"He grabbed her cheek. Not the one on her face"
"Oh, maybe she hadn't been trying to seduce him after all..."
Over all, I rate this book with about a 6 on the smut level. It was much worse than the Highland moonlight book that we read, but I'm sure there are those that are much worse.
Leather books: August.
