Life's funny sometimes, you know? Things happen, and you don't think about them for months afterwards, and then they suddenly become oh-so-important.....that was random and cryptic, and i apologize. Just....something in my head.
So, Friday night at work was way too much fun. It was open mike night. The guy who runs it knows that I sing (he plays guitar and piano, and we had discussed doing a couple of small things together but it never ended up happenning). So anyway, I was forced to sing. It was ok. I didn't want to accompany myself on guitar, and the only sheet music I had was "Songs for a New World", so I did "I'm Not Afraid of Anything" and Chris (the one who runs Open Mic...not the gay one) accompanied me on piano. He can sight read fucking JRB piano....so talented. Then I did a song that Chris wrote...it went well, considering that I had only ever sung it once before. It was funny. One of my managers was there, and she was all "I didn't know you could sing like THAT"....so I guess I'm not in as bad shape vocally as I thought I was.
Things are progressing quite nic ely with the move to NY. I found a room for the summer, at a great price. I found a great internship...have to get the app done. I have to fly out to NY to look at the room, and meet the woman who owns it, but that'll be fun. Now, if NYU would stop being stupid and tell me if I am in or not, it would make the next step that much easier.
I really miss performing. Can't wait to start rehearsals...even though it's a TINY part, it's something new on my resume, and it's at a gorgeous theatre...I'm looking forward to it immensely.
