Oh my god, how do I keep forgetting to mention this?!
As a thank you for helping him with his application essays (and probably also as a side-effect of the euphoria of getting into his top choice school), _spinach got me a KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer! It's RED! It's SHINY! It's a frikkin' KITCHENAID!

My kitchen is now officially gadgeted up.
In other news, I met with DM on Friday to receive payment for the editing/writing I did for him last week. He said two hopeful things:
1) He'll have more work for me in the near future.
2) He might like to recommend my services to other people.
In order for that second thing to happen, I'll need to come up with a menu of services and a price list. So that'll be another project for this week (in addition to job inquires, taxes, etc.).
