Lifehouse - "You and me"

I reflexively dislike most Lifehouse songs. However, every time I hear "You and me" I get a happy mental image of the scene at Connie's [former roommate's] wedding: watching her dance-scene guests form a circle and twirl along, waltzing to this tune.

I know I've mentioned this before but seriously: the best weddings I've been to have featured seasoned dancers. Whether it's bellydancers or partner dancers, peppering your crowd with folks who will either provide a spectacle or coax other people onto the floor is so totally the way to go.

And now this reminds me of the best part of attending the zydeco parties that Bird's always reminding me about. The first time, I went with Ol' Dirty Grad Student*. A woman, deciding it just wouldn't do for us to stand on the sidelines, gave us an impromptu dance lesson. The second time, I went alone and learned that Super's assessment was true: single women at these events do not lack for dance partners. It was a different sort of experience than I usually have when out at party venues. (The party venue in this case being a big warehouse down by the airport.)

* Ordinarily, I'd shorten his nickname just to initials. But I've decided not to because:

(1) I don't hardly get to use his [freakin' awesome if I do say so myself] nickname, and
(2) I don't know how much longer he'll be in school, so I should probably try to wear it out before he graduates.
