1) Yesterday at the climbing gym, in the locker room, I asked a lady standing nearby whether my harness looked to be on correctly. She said yes, then we chatted a bit. She goes to the gym every week for the love of climbing. etc.
She paid me a compliment on my "bunny ears." (I've yet to have my hair re-braided so have been rocking an afro. And, because I'm all about the "cute," I tend to pull it back into two pigtails/afro puffs/whatever, one on either side of my head. I guess the hairstyle puts people in mind of bunny ears, since she's the second woman-person to make the reference lately.) The awesomeness: "How do you get your hair to do that? Do you curl it?"
"Sorry?"
"To get it... like that?"
"Oh! Um... no, I don't curl it. It just does that naturally."
This lady was some version of native Asian. Didn't ask where she was from, but based on that exchange I'm going to guess [probably incorrectly] Japanese, because of the ganguro phenomenon.
2) Fell at the gym this morning (single-person accident) and hurt the other ankle. Swole up to potato size in no time flat. Good thing I already had the brace, so just transferred it from left ankle to right. It's actually easier to hop on the left foot than to try to walk on both so dignity's right out the window.
