In which I dip my toe into the world of social justice.

I was out for a wander on the Internet this morning, when I saw somebody in an anti-racist discussion link to the Daily Mail. I assume ignorance on the part of the poster (I believe that they're American), and so I prepared a little lesson.

I know that I'm coming late to this party, so sorry for that.

Hey There, I just wanted to say that I read your response to me in Neo's journal, as as I'm not sure he's going to unscreen it, I just wanted to pop in to say that I totally agree that The Daily Fail is awful.

The only reason I linked to it, was that it was a guest writer, but also I thought her story was extremely important to mention. I've been posting links for a month now about why the movie The Help is a racist pos, so fwiw, that was my reasoning.

I believe some people have even gone so far as to provide a caching service, so that when you want to link to one of the site's articles it doesn't increase their advertising revenue! (But I can't remember what it is.)

(As to the post - that's a pretty comprehensive education, packed into a lot of blue text :) )

Bah and humbug (and this is the icon I meant to use the first time). I'll do it myself, then.

Though it sounds... ludicrous to try to stop the entire Internet linking to them one link at a time, I would very much like a similar fate to befall Internet Explorer. Perhaps the fights can be won :)

Their complaint about Istyosty, and it's a valid one, in my eyes, was that it was designed to systematically stop them from capitalising on their online business model.

They at least have the right to protect themselves in that way.

As for the comprehensiveness of it all, I forgot that they sent their fashion correspondent to cover the famine in Somalia.

I get all that, it's just that any link to the Daily Mail just encourages them.

Copying and pasting the text will get the content across while also denying them the ad revenue and hit counts that clicks give them.
