It's got to mean something when you are born in '57 and are turning 57.

We went out to dinner Friday night. I had to get some cravings out of the way. I had half a grilled cheese sandwich, 3 french fries, and half a Coca-Cola float with vanilla ice cream. Yum. Still came away under 600 calories. Om nom.

I'd wanted a bird bath for my birthday until I started really looking for one and just couldn't find one I liked. I'm going to go get clothes that fit as my jeans are so loose that they're thinking about sliding totally off.

Saturday morning saw me (and Arthur, bless him, for getting up to make coffee) heading out to Larken Farms to pick peaches. It was great traveling with a friend I don't get to see enough of and the fresh air was nice.

Processed a bushel of white peaches today and will have two batches of chutney to show for it. One is a standard, very spicy chutney and the second is going to be a peach/pineapple/white onion/bell pepper that's probably closer to a chow-chow except that there is no tomato. It's based on this recipe: http://www.motherearthnews.com/real-food/peach-chutney-recipe-zmrz1305zmat.aspx

I'm only planning a small batch since this is experimental.

This has been a good week off. I did just what the hell I wanted to and made some organizational strides in the house. We have folks coming out for estimates to repair the roof or possibly replace it. The house is getting along and some of the maintinence has been let go in favor of things like a new AC and water heater. Both of these hit last year within a couple of weeks of each other. We have been here 7 years and it's starting to be time for some updates along with the repairs on the dishwasher and roof.

Gah. It's a pain being an adult.

Last year? Miserable, incredibly overweight and so depressed I didn't really care if I lived or died.
Decided in the fall that I needed to fish or cut bait on that last bit and opted to see what was up for the next few years.
Gastric surgery for weight loss in March and almost 75 pounds later I am on track to start graduate school in the fall and feeling better than I have in a very VERY long time.
